Re: An AVANTE for BORMAC in 2013 - finaly!
This is kind of an edit to my previous post but wanted to make it a separate post as both have useful links. This particular set includes balls & cups, pretty much enough to almost complete one car, with some small turnbuckles thrown in for free.

Thanks Marc but I am looking for some options with aluminum ball cups if possible? And if there is a kit with titanium turnbuckles for the 2011 Avante that would be a nice add.

Ahh, sorry for misunderstanding...I also looked for alloy balls/cups but all the ones I saw--and a few I purchased--were way too chunky-looking for 1:10-scale cars. I have a set of 4 Integy aluminum ball-ends with captured balls, 3mm thread holes on the ends, and they're too beefy for anything I was planning.flipwils11 wrote:Thanks Marc but I am looking for some options with aluminum ball cups if possible? Ok so here is the kit. I know I know you have all seen one already but now one lives in my work shed and that makes me pretty happy
The build will start soon.

At this stage Im going to build it bone stock. I will no doubt be adding the ball diffs and uprated steering gear along with the splitter down the track.flipwils11 wrote:Cool, are you going to add the torque splitter?

I think you'll get a real kick out of the gear diffs. First gear diffs I built without bevel gears. Actually, there's a lot about the build to like. I enjoyed every second of it. Twice ![Wink ;)](./images/smilies/icon_wink.gif)

I'm following this thread with interest - always loved the Avante for some reason.
As a kid I spent many hours drooling these images from the Tamiya catalogue:

Re: An AVANTE for BORMAC in 2013 - finaly!
So I have the build underway and I am a little overwhelmed with the 'awesomeness' of this car. For it's day this stuff is way ahead of it's time. Thank the lord I have finally got one..
![Very Happy :D](./images/smilies/icon_biggrin.gif)
I have been swapping a selection of the M3 kit screws for hi-tensile hex driven screws. Having owned and built a couple of 501X buggies I am well aware of how poor the metal in the Tamiya screws can be. I'd love a full hex replacement set.

Re: An AVANTE for BORMAC in 2013 - BUILD UNDERWAY
My Avante is built and I am chuffed. What a great car! Sure it may not be the hottest performer out in the track in its day but the design really is a little space age in my opinion. Back when it was first released this car must have been designed by the engineers at NASA.
LOL!
But seriously, I am so glad I purchased this car.
Pics to follow tomorrow. I'm off to bed.

Here it is all bolted together. Yet to trim and paint the bodyset then I will install electrics. Planning on using the brushed kit motor and run one of my Tekin FX Pro esc's, Spektrum radio and possibly a 'shorty' lipo.

I wore a grin the entire time whilst building mine. Just mind some of the screws. I find the metal Tamiya use to be a little soft at times.
