my first tamiya blackfoot rebuild
never really was a tamiya guy
they all seemed to cheap made for my tastes (i like to bash and race) and the nice race quality ones were just to damn expensive
but i have added one to my army of rc stuff
picked up a lot of rc cars for a good deal and in the lot was a blackfoot
no body, broken body mount,no bumpers ,and every screw had worked its way out
i planned on just leaving it in the parts bin incase i needed a screw or other sorted part for a custom build
but today while at the lhs someone had one, and i commented that i had one but good luck finding a body local
well shop keep said not true we have one in the back lol
with that said l
picked up the body ,some paint ,traxxas front bumper ,ca glue ,and a rpm running light kit
and now i have a blackfoot lol
i used this vinyl i use for arcade control panels to make it look like a real tonneau cover

Re: my first tamiya blackfoot rebuild
i would have left it but the parma body in the truck bed area was just crappy it was all wavy
at least with the vinyl on there the wave looks like it kinda should be there like a real truck cover

Re: my first tamiya blackfoot rebuild
You actually score a Monster Beetle
The Yellow CVA shocks, yellow CVA shocks and tires that once had little pins on the chevrons were Monster Beetle goodies.
If you want I have a stock MB/Blackfoot front bumper you are welcome to.

Re: my first tamiya blackfoot rebuild
That looks like an aftermarket lexan body. Original BF were hard plastic and the bumpers were chrome plastic that screwed on. Lights were attached to the roll bar that mounted on the bed.

Re: my first tamiya blackfoot rebuild
Super old thread, but this is step one in a Blackfoot build (which would be step one in ANY tamiya build):
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.

Please. I dump mine out in the floor, just like I always have.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

Re: my first tamiya blackfoot rebuild
I like to slit the top of the screw bags with my x-acto knife. I never cut them all the way. This way I can pick them up by the wrong end and spill them all over the table and floor about 30% of the time.

Re: my first tamiya blackfoot rebuild
Yup lesson learned last week. Built my first RC in quite awhile (Pumpkin Lowride) and what a disaster that was without laying it all out and labeling it. Next time around EVERYTHING is getting laid out and separated. Down to the screws.
