My Rc-10 teardown/buildup Almost Complete 4/09/08

Post by soniccj5 »

I thought I would share the rebuild of my latest RC-10 project.

The Tear Down:

The previous owner left this buggy stock, and so will I :-)

I cleaned up all the parts last night, but was unable to get the A-Arms as white as I want. I bought a product called White Out(was looking for Iron Out) which helped but not enough. I will try a bath of bleach and water tonight.

On a side note, while tearing down the transmission it brought back good memories. I had just finished the heat race and was qualified for the main but my idler gears needed to be replaced. After I finished my corner marshaling I went into the pits and replaced my gears(thanks for the spares dad) just in time to be ready for the main. I do not remember how I finished the race but I won't forget replacing the gears.

Watch out with the bleach, to long and the parts get 'burnt' and go yellow, I don't reccomend it...good luck

The assembly has begun! I have taken everything apart and cleaned each part one at a time(including the c-clips).

Usually when I am working on my Jeep and I get a small amount of brake fluid on the paint it starts to bubble. Not the same on one of the RC-10 bodies I got with the purchase of this car. I let it sit over night and nothing changed! Looks like it will be cheaper to buy a new one at this point.

Body in question:

Associated RC-10 shocks have to be some of the best looking shocks ever made :-)

I found this car one night when searching for a servo/receiver for one of my other projects. Now I am not sure if I want to use the radio gear in this or not. But I do want to drive it around a bit :) .

Got around to building the mechanical speed controller using a new resistor.

Might be looking at getting this roller ready to run, but I am torn. This is my cleanest example of an RC-10 goldpan, but on the other hand I really want to run a short arm RC-10.

Checking e-bay last night I could not find any good candidates in decent shape for a good price(50-75).

Maybe I will check my inventory of parts and possibly find enough parts to build a front end to bolt on my WOIN RC-10 along with some rear arms.
