Re: Installing undertray on Optima Mid
Here's how the undertray looks when cut; you can see that neither end reaches what you'd think would be the ideal places to bolt it on. You could mount it with the same screws holding your steering assembly but that's not a great idea, IMHO.

Re: Installing undertray on Optima Mid
We need someone to make a decent undertray. All it requires is the front and rear section of the LWB undertray added to that design.
With my custom chassis I am hoping I can use the four plastic begs from the LWB car to hold the undertray and body on.

I think the best idea is to ask TBG to prolong the mold front and rear so you get a proper under tray worthy the name!

Re: Installing undertray on Optima Mid
Is there anyone who knows them well enough to ask?
The undertray they make must be a copy of a vintage one. I had one on my SE 20yrs ago that was short like the TBG one but it was flat rather than moulded to the chassis

Re: Installing undertray on Optima Mid
Why do you want an undertray anyway? If it is to protect against scratches that half tray is not going to do the job however it is fixed.

Re: Installing undertray on Optima Mid
To keep dirt and crap away from the electrics & steering assembly, mostly. This tray will do a pretty good job of that, much better than if you had none because the Mid chassis is wide open to the elements beneath the body.kink wrote:Why do you want an undertray anyway? Re: Installing undertray on Optima Mid
keep in mind undertrays protect from dirt to some extent, but when dirt and moisture make it in, they then stay in....
even on modern cars (b44 for instance) undertrays are a pain to attach... stick to double sided tape (pun intended) and tape to cover the edges, and it ll be fine. velcro is too thick and it robs you of valuable ground clearance... or best, dont run any undertray...
