What did the ORIGINAL RC12E look like..?
What did the ORIGINAL RC12E look like..?
Hi,
I'm trying to find out what the very first RC12E looked like...
Ultimately I'm looking to find out the model history of the 12E - kit box numbers vs. spec.
ANY help appreciated.

Here's an example from the Associated On-road section.

Hi Brian... Fancy meeting you here!!!
That box art pic sure looks like it could be the first edition... What box kit no. tho? Do you own that one, or is it a pic from another thread (that was bought from a chap in France?)
I've seen that pic before, but never a photo of an actual car - does ANYONE have one?
Ps. Ugly betty 2 / RM still on route...

Ooooo... Lovely...
One last question then... (maybe!)...
Was the first ever basic kit designated part no. 3000, and from then on 'Basic 12E kits' kept the same number even tho things like motor blocks/servo savers/radio trays changed?

Re: What did the ORIGINAL RC12E look like..?
Some early boxes, all with same cover copy. There are many variations of the 12E thru the years.
Re: What did the ORIGINAL RC12E look like..?
Very nice and slightly envious!!!
So, I guess it's safe to say a 3000 'basic' kit from 1979, would differ from a 3000 kit from 1983..?
AND... anyone know the last year of Kydex top deck / first year of fiber top deck..? - was it the same kit no. from different years?

Re: What did the ORIGINAL RC12E look like..?
I believe the changes to the servo saver and rear blocks were running changes with no difference in the kit number.
The Kydex upper deck was standard throughout the production life of the RC12e. The fiberglas upper deck was from the weightsaver kit and available as an option part.

Also, late kits had a fiberglass radio tray in the same shape of the original white tray.

What is the difference in the rear block? I have several and have never noticed a difference (not doubting it- I'm told I don't pay attention good enough or something like that, I don't remember)

Re: What did the ORIGINAL RC12E look like..?
extra material behind the rear axle, curved shape on all but the early blocks. early blocks must have cracked at the axle on impact.
