Re: Jamin's Losi XX4 - Small Update
These have both been a long time coming, after spending a couple of hours modifying the updated ones a while back, I've managed to find 2 originals

Re: Jamin's Losi (Heavy Metal) XX4
The build has started! I'll post up some pics at some point, but its coming along nicely. This landed on my doorstep today, an original Losi heavy metal body & conversion kit, from the good ol' UK
Now I am in 2 minds whether to go buggy or truck

Hehehe! I am only doing one (its too expensive and time consuming for me to gather another car!) so I'll do both, but using just one chassisslapshot1979 wrote:I did both . If you have a xx4 already Id say go with truck.

I'm glad you got that, I must admit I thought of you when I saw it on the old Bay-of-E, I should have let you know but it's obvious that you had already seen it anywayjamin wrote:The build has started! The good thing about this conversion is that so long as you have both sets of parts you can build it as a heavy metal truck then when you fancy a change convert it into a buggy?

I was the only bidder, couldn't believe my luck! There is another one on there now, but for £35....DerbyDan wrote: I'm glad you got that, I must admit I thought of you when I saw it on the old Bay-of-E, I should have let you know but it's obvious that you had already seen it anyway

Yeah, the conversion is easy, just swap the front bumper and rear wing mounts to posts

Re: Jamin's Losi XX4 - Some progress at last!
This build is coming along nicely, apologies for the crappy phone pic, but I just wanted to show quickly the progress of the build and the fact I have now got the body mounted up correctly.
I remember BITD that it was a b1tch to cut out around the slipper because before you made the hole, it looked like the marking was nowhere near where it should be. After trying a few combinations and removing the shock towers I bit the bullet and actually made the hole directly where the marking was, as it looked like it should work when you put the top cover in the shell. Turns out it was correct, it just looks way out to start with. I really didn't want to mess this up as its an original mk1 body shell and not the readily available HW version. So glad it turned out ok and I needn't of worried so much.
Anyway, here it is mounted on the car, its looking like a great build, could be my best yet, hard to see from the pics but its running shiny CVDs front and rear, so happy to of got them
As you can see I've mixed up the build, mainly going for non worlds edition look by using mk1 towers and body shell, but I just had to put those Trinity threaded shock collars on it and also remove the paint from the springs.
Forgive me for the awful turnbuckles , they are temporary until I get my grubby hands on some Lunsford ones

It had to have the hubs Dan, wouldn't be one of my builds without themurpaldan wrote:Wow, that looks really great! Loving the hubs and shock collars. And shiny cvds

Those turnbuckles are proving hard to find. I may have to order the direct from Lunsford

Which ones are the lunsfords? the ones with holes or square? I think have a set of squares from a xx-cr here would they work?

They are the square ones like this:slapshot1979 wrote:Which ones are the lunsfords? the ones with holes or square? I think have a set of squares from a xx-cr here would they work?
I think for the XX-CR the sizes are the same but there are 4 of the smaller ones and 2 of the larger ones, the sizes I need are:
Front x4: 1 - 5/8ths (1.625)
Rear x2: 1 - 3/8ths (1.375)
If they are new and at a good price I might have them...

How much are they Aaron? I don't need the long steering linkage, I have a few spare of them alreadyaip47-2008 wrote:
