im dutch (netherlands) , not to be mistaken with deutsch (germany)

i might try ebay, if i cant find it locally, i just think its easier to find a body in my area, so i can see if it fits directly,

ill just keep on looking.

If you plan on running a bug body, I can vouch for the fit of a couple. The Parma & Dahm's fit like a glove. Any Sand Scorcher type variation will work. As a bonus, it'll almost always roll back on it's wheels when the terrain gets rough...

time to update my thread:

ive found a nice repro tamiya bug body, off of ebay.
i got it from ''kamtec'' ,he's located in the uk.
it did come with some window masks and is normally for a
stadium blitzer or a tamiya m-chassis.

it looks awesome, its just that this is my second body i painted ever,
and the first time i painted 2 colours! so....
i trimmed a large part of the body off, because of the baja look
and the motor/gearbox clearance

still needs some work, and some more stickers,
put some black pin striping tape on the outside, to make a nice finish.
i just have some problems with making smooth corners, the tape wrinkles
in the corners and lets go. next photo explains:

Image

anybody got some tips?? i thought maybe a heatgun to stretch it abit.

Image

also made a nice backplate skid, from a thin piece of metal, it runs
under the gearbox and at the end i made a slight curve to protect the motor.
now i have ''meat in the sandwich'' just as ''gomachv'' suggested.

when i add some more stickers and finished the last ends.
i will make some nice outdoor pics, i think im also going to look
for a spotlight rack on the front bumper (just as sc trucks)

it looks better in real life, i have a very crappy camera
i will keep you guys updated, when i have some updates

@diggley: nice bug body's, the dahm is quite interesting shaped

Looks pretty good, I don't know about the pinstripe tape, though. That stuff doesn't stick very well to sharp curves. I like your motor/butt protection idea, I had to come up with something similar for one of my cars that surprised me with an unexpected wheelie!

I´d give Kyosho´s pin stripe tape a go. I have used their ultra thin one with succes.
Vinyl tape on the other hand, is not easy to Work with because of its flexibility. I cut stripes of 3M super 88 or 33 tape and then leave it upside down to allow it to pull back, before I use it.

the kyosho outrage is FINISHED

Image

Image

on the pics the lights are hooked up to an external battery, because my race pack was charging,
when it runs the lights plug into the 6v bec plug of the reciever

Image

Image

added some side mirrors, a rollbar on the roof and 4 spotlights.
if it rolls over it rolls on the rollbar and wont damage the spotlights.

the spotlights on the roof mounted without much trouble,
the lights on the front were a bit harder.
i tried gluing them in the body, but the roundness of the beetle made it,
look ""bug eyed"" (pun).
i also tried making a bracket to mount them on, but using the holes to
let wires through and mount the bracket on the same hole, was not a succes....

finally i made some small pipes wich i fed the wires through,
and then set the lights straight and glued them.
the more is mess with it the worse its gonna look.

im gonna make some small changes in the future, so no big updates anymore.

im gonna look for some stronger pinstripe tape. maybe try kyosho tape as @dennisM suggested.
and make some kind of rear light buckets.

it was really cold outside today, so the outside pic is kind of blurry,
i hope i will get some nice sunny winter days.

thanks for all the advice on this project

bye

First, let me apologize for reopening an old post...

@ Heavy Gear -- I have looked high and low for the tires on your Outrage without any luck.

I believe someone mentioned earlier in this post that Carson had them, but I have hit a dead end with them also.

I have 2 Outrages in restoration - a project with my grandson.
His front tires are "dry rotted" and coming off the rim.
I understand this is vintage - in fact I purchased Outrage #1 new back in '93.
Any help would be appreciated even if I have to make a modification to get some new tires on them.
I prefer to maintain the "buggy look" -- in other words wide tires on the back and skinny on the front.

Thanks,
Greg - Texas

@hawkinsg

hi, im also sorry for my late reply, (busy, busy)

carson indeed has them, and they're still available, although scarce
but since its a (i believe) german company it might be hard, to get a hold of this wheels
when you're outside europe.

some other options you might want to check out, are the wheels that go on
a tamiya mad fighter buggy and a fighter G buggy.
the first is on the dt01 chassis and the second dt02.
they both have that buggy look tyres, narrow front and wide back.
i have a extra set of spikey tyres from the dt02 ,for my outrage.
they work perfectly.

i recently upgraded my outrage with a brushless system,
but in the first 4 min it completely wreckt the gearbox.
now it sits. waiting to see what went wrong, (and is broken) and maybe
turn the bl system a wee bit down with the program card.

so in some time i might give an update,
i hope this helped you a bit further.
and i wish you a great time racing with your grandson!

greets
