with all this talk of tranny issues, it sounds like bitd building a 6 gear, the difference is you just did what you needed to do and didn't have a forum to discuss it.

i'll give the steath lube a try on the gears to quiet the gear box, i heard of some people using shock oil on b4 tranny, but wouldn't that potentially contaminate the diff?

Precisely. Shock oil and black grease can contaminate the diff and reduces the torque capacity of the diff because now there is less friction between the diff ball and diff rings allowing it to slip easier. Diff grease on the other hand works well to lube the gears and does not affect the diff.

That's what I was thinking last night while I was working on this and I actually found myself enjoying the process.  The last 6-gear I built to run took a good bit of de-burring and polishing to get it right. Even the original Stealth normally takes a little effort to get it working perfectly.

Well I am building my Worlds right now as I have a day off work.. Built the tranny and gears were tight but not too bad just a little clean up no biggie.. Problem with the slipper hitting the motor plate.. Doh!! Put in a "spacer" (tamiya plastic bushing and couple washers) and it "works" for now.. Don't have electronics yet so it will just sit on the shelf for now anyway.. Set an email off to AE and will wait to hear back from them.. So far for this being my first RC10, I say it isn't bad.. I see why people love them for their quirks.. Still some steps to go.. 8)

Has anyone tried breaking in the tranny with toothpaste yet? I think I'll try it with bushings installed when mine arrives.

Just use the diff grease and you'll be fine after a run or two.

Emailed the hobby shop I've been dealing with for parts to rebuild my A-stamp and they have one of these in stock. I had to ask. Goodbye money LOL!

My issues so far:

The gearbox ofcourse...four long hours to figure this xxxx out.

The front axle is to tight so the bearing wont fit, i have used a light sandpaper but it didnt work.

The holes on the motorplate for the motor is not aligned correctly so i needed to trim it a bit.

For so much money i would have expected more.

The Stealth kit seemed to go together perfect. Built one the other night for the first time, and I don't know what I'm doing, and it went together perfect. I might have to throw that in the WC, cause for me, trying to fix these issues is gonna seem like rocket science.
Eh, I'll hope for the best n figure it out.....Not that I'm looking foward to it cause the last thing I wanna do is have problems putting the thing together, being that I don't seem to be "RC inclined" .... Good thing is it will make me use a lil untapped brain power I know is in there somewhere.
Walked into a hobby shop yesterday n they had a bunch of kits on display....,Still waiting for mine at my local one.Hopefully Monday.

Just a couple thoughts for all those people that think this kit should be perfect...do you realize this kit was designed 30 years ago? This is a RE-RELEASE for anyone not paying attention. This was a 'gift' from associated that everyone wanted...a 30 year old design. If you want a kit to fall together for you maybe a b5 is more your thing. If you don't want to have to mess with it to get it right maybe a RTR is more up your alley.

Again, these were just thoughts to ponder for those expecting a modern car kit from a 30 year old design.

The ironic part though is that the US style stealth is reported to go together great, it's the ReRe new case and topshaft causing the problems. Long live old technology!

I am surprised Tim still comes around after all the bashing we give him  I hope he understands how much we appreciate him being the scapegoat!

For me I like the hand fitting of parts and the challenge of making everything work smoothly!
