Ball Cups and Turnbuckles
I want to use the stock turnbuckles in the Worlds kit but would like to replace the Ball Cups. This of course would make links that are too long as the turnbuckles are designed to work with the length of the stock smaller ball cups. What do you guys do in an instance like this?
1) Give up on the stock turnbuckles and replace them with a length designed to work with the larger ball cups?
2) Shorten up the length of the Ball Cups so that the threaded area on the aftermarket units match the stock ones?
I have taken a look at a lot of the Worlds car builds around the web that builder have posted and the ones I have found still have the stock ball cups used. I have already replaced all the ball ends with the allen head type and found that the stock units measure a little smaller for ball diameter.
Please weigh in with what you are doing or plan on doing. Thanks

Re: Ball Cups and Turnbuckles
you shouldn't have much of a problem with a longer ball cup, other than just threading farther in. if you do run into cases where the threads run out, just trim the length of the ball cup.

Joe is right- but if you replace the weak ball cups with stronger ones your going to bend stock turnbuckles instead of popping cups- if your doing one, I'd do both-

What do you guys suggest? All I was after was something with less slop in the cup that would stay on.

Lunsford sets that are for the Short Arm Car. What about an option for the long arm car?

Re: Ball Cups and Turnbuckles
lunsford is supposed to be coming out with a set for the worlds/long arm car soon. You can also just get lunsfords as pairs, and get the longer pairs as necessary.
you can also get team associated blue titanium turnbuckles in pairs.
those are the only two manufacturers I know of at this point that are readily available.
