gold pan: converting from narrow to wide front arms, parts?
resurrected my original narrow track gold pan, converted to brushless/lipo/DSM, but otherwise stock. it's mostly a basher unless my local track has a vintage class where i stand a chance at competing in racing. i haven't looked into it yet.
anyhoo,
i ordered up a set of stock wide track front arms, and the shock tower and some longer threaded rods for the upper and steering arms. what else do i need, or is that it?

That's the basics. You can also go with the worlds caster blocks, aluminum on center axles and on center steering arms. Also the shocks will work but .71's would be better with the long arms.
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Re: gold pan: converting from narrow to wide front arms, par
I think I might order up some turnbuckles and center steer parts to finish this conversion to wide front.
I swear I asked this once before but which lengths of steering arm and upper-arm turnbuckles do I need?
I dont mind looking it up in one of the manuals but I dont know which rc10's had them... or even if the manual gives the right lengths for the threaded rod.
Also, are the turnbuckle tools available and where?

Re: gold pan: converting from narrow to wide front arms, par
very helpful...
now another question: when i look at the rc10 worlds build manual, it lists a part number 6207 for the front arm mounts. but when i look at tower hobbies otherwise pretty comprehensive list of parts, it does not have the 6207. but amazon does. what gives? should i use the 6207 for a simple conversion to long arm? or is that part number superseded by a number that tower hobbies does have on it's parts list?
or should i be shopping somewhere else? it's just that i already have an account there for my rc airplane stuff. always happy to give my business to guys recommended by the forums, when possible.

Re: gold pan: converting from narrow to wide front arms, par
I just checked the Worlds Manual and my old RC10 manual.
Part number 6208 RC10 Front Arm Mounts (Left and Right) (White) old part number 6207.
Part number 6207 RC10 Front Arm Mounts (Left and Right) (Black).
Both in stock at Tower Hobbies.
Cheers, Dave.

I'm asking seriously, not condescendingly, why would someone need to order arm mounts (6208) to convert to wide arms? They're already on the car, right? Or do you NEED the 6207 ones?
Also, are there white long arms available?

Re: gold pan: converting from narrow to wide front arms, par
In my case, it was complete and utter ignorance. I didn't know if the mounts for wide arms were the same or different than the narrow ones. And it didn't help that the part number shown in the manual for a wide arm buggy is different than the one shown in manual for the narrow buggy. Thats why it takes someone who knows what hes doing to point out the difference.GodSpeed wrote:I'm asking seriously, not condescendingly, why would someone need to order arm mounts (6208) to convert to wide arms? Since I'm not interested in collectibility or authenticity, I don't care about color.

A-Arm mounts aren't different, only the color and part number!
Cheers, Dave.
