lmwong, new body and paint for the RC10
lmwong, new body and paint for the RC10
I found the Helion Criterion 2wd buggy body to have a nice low-slung cab-rearward buggy look so I went with that. Whipped up a new paint scheme with a little inspiration from Valvoline race cars. Plotted the numbers and AE logo on vinyl and added some stickers. I'm not quite sure what to do with the wing yet; leave it clear, scuff it up, paint it? There are some small paint imperfections if you look close and the AE logo was hard to get straight on all the curved sections of the body, but I'm pretty happy with the result. If I had to do it again, I would paint the AE logo a dark gray so it looks less like a zebra on that side. I used blue masking tape to transfer the vinyl which worked fine for the small numbers but the big AE logo was tough. I since bought some transfer tape.
I hope you like it! Taking that outer masking off is like Christmas every time!

The white ae is perfect for the black. I think grey would look dull! Well done on the paint and custom decals.... where did you get the body?

Thanks! Typo in the post. The body is from a RTR Helion RC buggy Criterion. You can buy the body directly from them (fast shipping!) and they sell it at my LHS.jwscab wrote:nice job! where exactly did you get that body? who makes it? looks to fit really well.

What a difference it makes when it's on the car. When I looked at the first few pics, I thought "yuck", but then on the car, it's like it's not even the same body! I'm one that can usually visualize the "end product" during the intermediate stages, but I was completely off key on this one. That body looks absolutely fantastic on the buggy. Very well done!

Yea is has that mean low slung, ready to pounce look! I would open/cut out all the vents though, it would look even cooler!

That's funny you said that. I liked the low-slung look of the car but found it was not cab-backwards enough for me. So I wend old-school Protech, Siebenelch-style and minimized the AE logo on the roof. I like this a lot better and will do this pattern and body going forward.Jim85IROC wrote:What a difference it makes when it's on the car.
