lmwong RC10 classic resurrection

Like many of you, I'm just now stepping back into the hobby after a couple decades hiatus. My parents were moving and found my old RC10 in the basement. I now have a 6 yo son and thought it would be fun to do this hobby with him. I'm not sure what version RC10 it was as I had bought it used as a kid. It had pink arms, a red carbon chassis, and pink spur gear! I had frankenstiein-ed the car to go on-road with chopped shock towers, turned the motor mount and transmission backwards to run mid-engine, and put slick tires on it. I wish I had taken pictures of the car before I disassembled it.

Anyway, to make a long story short, getting inspiration from this board I decided to modernize the old car with newer parts and electronics and restore it's off-road capabilities. Here's what I came up with. I know, I know, it's a Losi 22 body that's too narrow for the already narrow graphite chassis, but it was what I found at the shop and I rather like the look of the modern buggy so I made it work. I found an AE graphite chassis on eBay, I went with RC carbon shock towers, RPM arms, axle conversions to B4, B4 wheels and proline holeshot tires. I have Lunsford Ti turn buckles, JConcept bell crank steering, and V2 shocks left to install. I just bought an entry level brushed motor and ESC to get it going, but plan on going brushless. So far my son and I have had a blast with it. I'll post more pics after another round of upgrades.

Killer, looks set up

Minor updates: installed the Jconcepts bell crank steering. The left-hand screw broke off in the nut! They are very soft; don't over tighten! Installed the motor cover and new turnbuckles. I scuffed the wing and lowered it.

Any recommendations for a new brushless motor and ESC that this old transmission can handle?

Novak Racing Ballistic 17.5 brushless motor mated with Hobbywing Stock ESC. I did some re-wiring, but looks like I can trim up the wires a bit more to get a cleaner look.

I plan to blackout the rear bulkhead. Shocks will be upgraded. Tire options in the mail.

Well, for power any brushless setup will be awesome so it comes down to budget and preference.

I'm a Castle fanboy myself - got a 4600 and a 5700 in a few of my cars and they positively SCREAM. I also have a 7700 in my B44 and that is literally like overkill but I just love watching it fly down the street and terrorize the neighbourhood kids

V2 shocks upgrade to further the blackness of this build. Blacked out rear bulkhead install tonight.

New body day! It's the '91 Jordan 191 F1 livery in buggy form. I also installed the black rear bulkhead and trimmed the electronics.

Will a stealth transmission fit on this chassis? How can I tell? Old 6 gear transmission right now.

Yes, a stealth transmission will fit on that chassis. The question is whether or not you will have to drill four new holes to mount it. Post a picture of the underside of your car. Let us see if the holes are already there or not.
