I found the Helion Criterion 2wd buggy body to have a nice low-slung cab-rearward buggy look so I went with that. Whipped up a new paint scheme with a little inspiration from Valvoline race cars. Plotted the numbers and AE logo on vinyl and added some stickers. I'm not quite sure what to do with the wing yet; leave it clear, scuff it up, paint it? There are some small paint imperfections if you look close and the AE logo was hard to get straight on all the curved sections of the body, but I'm pretty happy with the result. If I had to do it again, I would paint the AE logo a dark gray so it looks less like a zebra on that side. I used blue masking tape to transfer the vinyl which worked fine for the small numbers but the big AE logo was tough. I since bought some transfer tape.
I hope you like it! Taking that outer masking off is like Christmas every time!
jwscab wrote:nice job! where exactly did you get that body? who makes it? looks to fit really well.
Thanks! Typo in the post. The body is from a RTR Helion RC buggy Criterion. You can buy the body directly from them (fast shipping!) and they sell it at my LHS.
What a difference it makes when it's on the car. When I looked at the first few pics, I thought "yuck", but then on the car, it's like it's not even the same body! I'm one that can usually visualize the "end product" during the intermediate stages, but I was completely off key on this one. That body looks absolutely fantastic on the buggy. Very well done!

That's funny you said that. I liked the low-slung look of the car but found it was not cab-backwards enough for me. So I wend old-school Protech, Siebenelch-style and minimized the AE logo on the roof. I like this a lot better and will do this pattern and body going forward.
Heavily inspired by Ultrahive's B4 and Siebenelch's slammed RC10s . I like how this turned out. I'll update with more pics once I finalize electrical layout. I'm planning center mounted, shorty lipo setup. I found it on eBay, it's an RTR with...

This really came out great. Love the Protech look on the B4. It stand out nicely and this chassis, having taken 5 world titles, does the old look a lot of justice.
Regarding the center mounted electronics: where did you get the hardware to mount...
Like many of you, I'm just now stepping back into the hobby after a couple decades hiatus. My parents were moving and found my old RC10 in the basement. I now have a 6 yo son and thought it would be fun to do this hobby with him. I'm not sure what...

Nothing to do during the last holiday (Hari Raya)
So I decided to remove an old paint in one body shell.
The body shell, even the wind shield was painted in black color. The previous owner tried...

If you guys have stripped a body and have the hazed windows, try spraying them with a clear coat. In most cases, that will make the windows clear again.
I am restoring my son's 1993 RC10 B Stamp. It is going to be a tribute car for him as he passed away December of 2018. I would like to have the bodys theme be that of a P-51 Mustang he custom built (see pic below). I am looking to get a list of good...

Going to do a new body for my son's RC10 Kit #6011 I Gave him for Christmas in 1993. I had a Sidewinder body #6161 I had purchased as I did a really bad job on the orig body. I have Air Brush experience in painting RC Boats but not Lexan. I need a...

In addition to the Pro-Line suggestion, there are many choices for airbrush paint for Lexan bodies, including Parma's FasKolor series, Spaz Stix, Createx, AutoAir...and probably more. 8) The water-based ones are nice to use, no fumes and easy...
