Re: VAE's 91 Stealth build
I just realized there are way too many clean photos posted above, so it's time to show the dirty. Most of you seen the track report from Rod and I's first couple of runs, so I'll just post a current update.
I got my parts from across the pond now. Rod and I both had some considerable amount of breakage with the American parts, so we are going to give her another go. I ended up cracking a front bulkhead during the last race, but now that I got the new one I can get it ready again. Jake isn't quite back in the game again so I had to be innovative with the front bumper. I noticed the B4 mini bumper was a pretty close fit. I trimmed the holes a little because the holes were recessed and off just a little. I used a button head screw on the back hole which was covered up by the B4 bumper. It will do for now until I can get more from Jake.
Sorry, no photos of the new bumper, I had to go work in the field and won't be back for a bit . It is however all ready for my to hit the track again when I return

Re: VAE's 91 Stealth build
Thanks to a brand new track layout and sharing it with others with 1/8th scales I now have a matching cracked front bulkhead. I also have a broken rear right arm, but once I order a few more bulkheads I will be back at it. The front bulkhead seems to be the weak point with the stronger arms.

Where is your bulkhead breaking at? I took a hella shot last week and easily snapped the heavy front arm, bulkhead looks fine.

It breaking in the same spots, parallel to the pin, but at the outside screw holes you can probably see from the pics from the last photo and the one below. Keep in mind I got nail by a couple of 1/8 nitro buggies.JK Racing wrote:Where is your bulkhead breaking at? I took a hella shot last week and easily snapped the heavy front arm, bulkhead looks fine.
Also the arm that broke

Re: VAE's 91 Stealth build
I haven not broken any front bulkheads. Are you creating a stress point from the bottom mounting screws or something?
I've broken plenty of rear arms like that, but not recently, the problem went away on it's own somehow.

New round corner race rear arms can take more hits. Bigger radius in all inner corners.

Re: VAE's 91 Stealth build
Couldn't you just install one of those aluminum plates with the two holes to connect the hinge pins up front? Sure you'd need longer pins, and have to find the right hinge plate, but that would solve your problems. If nobody makes one that fits the width you need (including other manufacturers), you could easily make your own. Take your front bulkhead down to a hobby shop and see if you can find something that matches the width. Do the same for the hinge pins.

Re: VAE's 91 Stealth build
That's right. Cut off a little bit of material from both ends of arm and you can fit ASC9120 (B2/B3) in there.

Re: VAE's 91 Stealth build
I think I will try this brace out, I just have to order a couple more bulkheads first.
