10T questions from a newb.

Post by bjammin90 »

3 part question here but first a little back story.
Purchased a RC10T in great condition, installed new electronics (Orion R10/13.5t). And I'm wondering about a few things.
1. Performance. I was "underwhelmed" by the acceleration. Wondering if I can update the stealth gearbox to run a current topshaft/slipper set from the Worlds ReRe. If so, what part numbers do I get.
2. Steering. I'd like to update the front steering with parts from a newer model but I'm in the dark on what to get. Again, need part numbers.
3. Wheels. I's like to upgrade the axles to allow the use of current style 2.2 wheels. Yup, part numbers.

Thank you for any help and sorry for the long winded question.

I'm not familiar with the Orion gear, but maybe there are some adjustments that have a soft acceleration set or low timing. a 13.5 from what I understand should be pretty quick. The slipper top shaft changes would likely really only give you a little more slipper range, do you feel the factory parts are slipping? check the parts list for the worlds re-release for the top shaft and slipper numbers.

the worlds re-release steering bellcranks should replace what you have pretty easily and tighten up the steering if you have the old style bellcranks. If you have the 'long' version of the rc10t steering bellcranks I know a bunch of guys say the buggy setup is better all around.

I believe you wheels should already be 2.2" and should fit all modern rubber. If you want new wheels, you should only have to change the rear axles to 3/16" if you currently have 1/4" axles. That would be the only change necessary to use t2/t3/t4 wheels.

Oh, as for the part numbers, I can't rattle them off for you, but use associated website for the worlds manual/partslist, etc. rc10.com

If meaning modern as in 12mm hex wheels. thats a little different. pretty much a b4 (or that family of rc10's rear hex. front would have to change c-block and spindle and front axle to say a b4 or t4 front set up takes drilling the c block to 1/8".

Worlds re re is made from the original stealth. so basically its a b4 top shaft and slipper set up.

also check your gearing if you didnt change it for the brushless set up.

Silly question but have you calibrated the Forward/Neutral/Reverse function of the speed controller and Radio System, i made that mistake the other day with a Novak 10.5 Turn System.
worth a look, 13.5 should be plenty quick

Hi,

CVD kit 3/16 axles,

http://www.amainhobbies.com/rc-cars-trucks/team-associated-cvd-kit-rc10gt-t2-3-asc7383/p43758

If your truck has 1/4 axles you will need rear hub carrier bearings as well, size and type will depend on

what rear hub carriers you have.

Rear 3/16 wheels suit above axles,

I run around a 10t motor in mine, it's rated at 4600kv, and it frickin hauls.

Yes you can run the B4 top shaft and slipper assembly. I converted my 1992 10T to this configuration. Glad I did, because I also found out there were bushings in the tranny when I pulled it apart.....so you may want to check for that too, and upgrade to bearings.
