Traxxas Graupner Radicator 2
After built another Traxxas Special Rad :http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=31&t=32036
I decided to compet with another car for the French Vintage OffRoad Nationaux 2016 edition
Build from an ugly Graupner / Traxxas licenced in europe
Details:
- Front and Rear Drivetrain from TRX3
- Street Sport Chassis
- Bandit 1st generation gear and tower
This is how I changed this ugly frog into princess:
- RPM gear case with alu motor plate
- Rear tower from Atomic RC
- Front FRP tower from Traxxas TRX3
- Layshaft from STRC for mouting Associated Slipper
- Home made Lipo strap
- Traxxas dampers
A Traxxas TRX3 repro body fit perfectly, I just need to build a wing mount.
Cheers,
David

Re: Traxxas Graupner Radicator 2
Looks great! It's very interesting to see how differently they built the "radicator 2" as compared to a Rad 2
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

Re: Traxxas Graupner Radicator 2
Nice upgrades. I haven't seen too many of these. This one looks great. It is interesting to see the re-branded mash-ups that were available from Graupner/Traxxas. TRX-3 meets Bandit meets Street Sport.

How much modification was needed to be done to the chassis to get everything to mount up? Any pics?

Need some work on the front drivetrain there is a lot of understeer. Adding Some weight is maybe a solution.

Re: Traxxas Graupner Radicator 2
There is no modification needed. All fit perfectly thank to Traxxas compatibily parts.MetalMilitia wrote:How much modification was needed to be done to the chassis to get everything to mount up? Any pics?
Front TRX3 + Street Sport chassis + Rear Bandit (1st generation) = This Thing That Should Not Be
The front upperdeck is probably specific, but need a street sport to confirm.

Nice frankenride What's up with the rear tower, what modern car is it designed for?
i'm thinking your understeering issues have to do with the front track, looks wide as heck to me...
In any case, cool traxxas toy as usual coming from you
a+

Re: Traxxas Graupner Radicator 2
I always laughed at the Radicator 2, but this one actually is really nice. Since there was no "expert" version of this car, I always considered it "cheap"
AFAIK, it came without bearings, and I thought without a slipper as well. I also believe it has the gear diff and not the ball diff.
Again with your upgrades it really is nice, especially getting rid of that body
There is one available on eBay Germany right now, but €89 is too much for a new side project.

Re: Traxxas Graupner Radicator 2
Does that Chassis have any kick up in the front?
Could you post a pic from the bottom?
Thanks, Tony

Frankly, I've always been kicking myself for not picking up the NIB one a local chain of hobby shops had listed up to 2006 or so - then the store chain went bankrupt...Chewbacca wrote: There is one available on eBay Germany right now, but €89 is too much for a new side project.

Re: Traxxas Graupner Radicator 2
Same here, they used to be dirt cheap on eBay Germany, I always thought that was Graupner chassis, since I don't know much about on road vehicles.
