Radioactivities RC10

Post by radioactivity »

I've been slowly trying to breath life back into m RC10.
It started as an A-stamp Edinger 6016.
My first pic showed my car with Kyosho Platinums that I never really understood and I relpaced them with B6 shocks.
That started the ball rolling.
Chassis, front and rear arms, 6 gear transmission, titanium hinge pins, bell crank and very minor other parts are still from the late 80's or early 90's.
Lots of cleaning, lubricating, polishing, anodizing, fitting, modifing and replacing and I still need a few things to get it to where I want it. If that is even possible for me.
Obviously I need tires!
Still want to re-anodize the Litesink ( it turned out too purple for me ) and the bell crank. I think Rit blue jean blue will work.
So before I "title" the car as a true Houge I need to ask everyone for chassis verification.
After exhausting my abilities to check I haven't seen an other chassis quite like it.
It has never been drilled or modded in any way. It was purchased from a LHS with the rear arms as a set.

Thanks hawgfanman
I appreciate the comment.
It has been a lot of fun bringing the car back.

Looks great! So, is that film applied on the underside of the Lexan or the outside?

Thank you Coelacanth
The film, as well as the paint, are applied to the underneath side of the body and wing. The wheels are on the outer surface and then clear coated.
I attempted a hydrodipping DIY in the paint forum. Take a look if you want. ???Hydrodipping???
Dipping on the underside is somewhat more challenging due to curvature but I did it and I am a complete amature.
The Hydrovator spray activator has pretty concise instructions on how-to.
Several you tube videos show the process as well.

I appreciate that DaveM
I still need to get tires and can't seem to make up my mind.
Low profile and wide would be my preferences.
Notice the hinge pins? Super easy to anodize blue and match the Associated titanium turnbuckles.

WOW Chuck, that is stunning! ... and trailing arms too!
Of course, you know what this means; you gotta build a second one as a runner (perhaps a little less perfect than this one so you won't cringe if it takes a few hits). It would be amazing to see an RC10 like this running around the track.

I agree with above comments. I followed your hydrodipping thread and find your results to be excellent. I would love to have a scheme like that! Great work!

Thanks so much Doug and Matt
Other than the forum, very few people have seen the car. A few relatively disinterested friends and my wife. Fortunately she really likes it and supports my hobbies (I am very luckly).
Your support and opinions are much appreciated!
One other small, easily overlooked detail, the front tower (very nice, thanks to GoMachV) modification. No more retaining nut on the ballstud. The holes are filled, drilled and tapped.

Thanks again Chuck

After replacing so many parts I still have a few "leftovers"

I don't think of them as "leftovers" but rather a collection of parts ready for the next project. Speaking of next projects, that "A" stamp goldie looks pretty sweet, so whatcha got planned for that Chuck?

BTW; I reckon that, if the whole of the worlds population could be represented by the height of the Empire State building, the number RC fans in the world could be represented by the thickness of a few sheets of cardboard. Suffice it to say, we're a very tiny minority.

Gotta tell ya Doug, my old gold pan is a little like me. Step back a few yards and get a little out of focus and she doesn't look too scary.
Up close not so much.
I haven't given too much thought to the endgame yet.
Scavenging some of the parts off the Houge and putting them back where they came from was kind of motivating.
Probably turning her into a runner would keep me from tearing up the other car.
