PB buggies. Post your pics.
Re: PB buggies. Post your pics.
I wonder if anyone could recommend suitable universal joint drive shafts for the Maxima? One of the ones I currently have fitted seems to have a damaged bearing, so I'm hoping to replace it with something more readily available. Also any advice on a compatible slipper clutch would be great.
can you identify the buggy please
hi

Re: can you identify the buggy please
Top buggy is indeed a PB Maxima. Best not to ask about the price (Rule #10 here: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=85&t=154). Other buggy / parts appears to be a Tamiya Sand Scorcher, one of their Special Racing Buggy series, judging by the chassis and the VW rear exhaust detail parts.top-timm wrote:hi

Re: PB buggies. Post your pics.
Quite a few people were using the PB Mini Mustang when I first started out, this was at an indoor club racing on carpet. They always seemed very suited to such tracks. Later on the same friends moved on to the PB Maxima; you just don't tend to see them around anymore, well apart from in this thread!
I managed to find an old PB advert from Radio Race Car, December '91 which I will attach here.
One of my old school friends also still has his Maxima sat in his garage.... Hmmmm....

Re: PB buggies. Post your pics.
I'm going to try to get my hands on the Maxima my mate has.... i raced against it enough times! It looks a little worse for wear but is totally complete. It has had cut-outs made at the ends of the bumper to stop the tyres from rubbing, but i have already sourced a brand new Maxima bumper ready for it 'just in case'.
Quite a few cars on this thread boast the pepperpot alloys with the Tamiya-esq fitment. The car 'Maxima' posted has a lovely red set for example. This is where i remember those wheels from so vividly, just as i was starting up in racing, at my first club, quite a few of the Mini Mustangs running then had them on. I still haven;'t found out who made them....

Always good to have the spare bumper.... but the bumper mount is what always seems to break, and what doesn't come up for sale very often. I should know, I have quite a collection of new and used PB parts, and -1 spare bumper mounts!

Re: PB buggies. Post your pics.
I haven't seen one come available NIB - in fact I never saw one NIB back in the day! They were never 'that' popular outside of club level racing, and for me it was one indoor carpet-based club in particular where they were the most common car used.
The car I am after is a Maxima I raced against many many times at that particular club, and then later, albeit briefly outdoors and offroad at my subsequent club. The owner was a good friend of mine, a very competitive racer, and a bit of a nemesis. I will be very pleased if i can get my hands on it, purely out of nostalgia. It's a bit of a mess, having stood for so long in what appears to have been a damp garage, but i don't mind that at all.
Nice that there is a thread such as this for these cars as they could easily be forgotten amongst all of the more popular marques.
I am seeing a fair few PB's with the pepperpot alloys of various colours in this thread, and it was at this first club i speak of where i saw so many sets of those rims bitd. I still haven't worked out who made them, but i do love the way they look. I recently picked up an unused set in gold, so they could easily find their way onto this Maxima if it does eventually come my way.
