Could the problem also be the result of a bad capacitor?

Good call Doug

Though I never had one go bad I am guessing it is certainly possible. I never thought of that

If we could get some close up pics of the motor, connections, brushes, commutator, esc or any thing that might look suspicious.
Pics might help in actually seeing what could possibly be wrong.

The motor worked fine hooked up to 1.5v and I did test 7.4v. No sparks. It's a brushed motor. Mr. Outlaw Reedy Team Associated motor.

I get beeping coming from the Futaba ESC and no response from the motor when I throttle. The ESC adjustments don't do anything but change the setpoints for both steering and throttle.

yeah, there is something wrong with the esc. are you using the BEC in the radio/esc or do you have a 4 cell AA pack powering the setup?

It's likely a bad set of forward FETs, at least one is probably damaged. If you aren't using the 4AA cell pack, the voltage regulator is working and powering the control side of the esc, as you see leds on and beeps happening. it shouldn't be beeping or buzzing. just flashing LED's.

I'm using 7.2v Tamiya battery pack. The Tamiya connector goes directly to the Futaba MC210CB ESC.

I get the LED blinking, but I don't recall ever getting beeping/buzzing before.

Bought a working ESC from eBay and it works! Thanks everyone. So cool to see in action again after 20 years.
