Looks like a fairly low wind. 13 turn or so. I think green Dot is 13x2.

Funnily enough, a motor builder said maybe 13.

I may or may not have wound my own motors messing around with my old junk back in the glory days..... 8)

there were only so many reedy dot motors available to the general public, so the rough bulk of wire and the eyeball of the wire gauge puts it about there.

Thanks.
Either way its too hot for my A stamp 🙂

Still, nice to have.

Would the wire gauge have been the same on those winds? Would be nice to be able to work out what exactly it is, but without unwinding it, that may not be possible.

yes, you can actually determine the wind by the diameter of wire and the ohm reading of each comm (you need to get down to like 3-4 decimal places), so you need a really good meter. unfortunately, the ohm reading and wire gauge were never published....so you'd have to compare to a known reference or a few.

I have a green dot I need to rebuild so I can take it apart and get a measurement. Not sure when I will get to it though.

No rush at all, but that would be great. A pic when its apart incase it looks obviously different and any info you can get would be fantastic!
My calipers go down to 3 decimal places and then halfs. I can measure the resistances too.
