My blue GT

Post by romulus22 »

I just finished buttoning up the chassis. Body will be coming soon.

I guess I could say I was inspired by scr8p/jconcepts EGT build. I was never a huge fan of colorful builds. But I thought the white parts against the blue chassis actually looked pretty good. Usually you only see the blue chassis trucks against black parts.

Really not much of a build so much as a chassis swap. I bought this truck a while ago and I think all I did was stick a non PS engine on it. So when I was swapping parts over I just gave them a quick clean. Not a full restoration so no sparkly white parts here.

Lastly huge thanks to Alex, LoboNYC!!! Just mentioning my idea for this build, he tells me I have a NIP chassis and nose plate in the mail. Can’t thank you enough Alex for all your generosity over the years.

Now onto the pictures of the truck so far.

The way it is is technically the “correct” way as per the way it was designed. I still think the other way would probably pass more air across the fins. Or with the head under a polycarbonate body the air is doing a bunch of random stuff and it doesn’t matter anyways. It comes
mounted the other way and planned on leaving it. I never payed close enough attention, how it says O.S. Max on one side, and CV Power on the other. Thought it said O.S. On Both sides. I thought it would be kinda cool to display the CV power to the pipe side.

I never expected to see foam tires on a GT, but they give it a very different and sleek look. Very cool. 8)

Hahahaha... always learn something new even after all these years...I never noticed regarding what is printed on the sides of the engine head. Heck I have several of those engines and one that's always in my face and still didn't pick up on that.

I agree with matt1ptk... The foam tires gives it a different look. I like that.

I see you have the head positioned "technically correct" for maximum "ram air" cooling, lol. It does look very cool with the cv power to the side of the pipe.

Can't wait to see this with a top

Hey Todd,

The "CV Power" and "OS Max" is likely a later variation.

Just checked four of my brickheads...one silver head, two redheads and one blue head.

One red and the silver both have "OS Max" on both sides. One red and the blue both have "CV Power" and "OS Max" on both sides.

What i also noticed is that the heads that have OS max on both sides are slightly bigger and taller than the heads that have both CV Power and OS Max on them.

I thought maybe it was a .12 and .15 size difference...but its not. A .12 and .15 engine with the dual logo are both the same size.

That's a dead ringer for the one I have in storage. Except yours is complete. Is that the Associated or Integy nose plate?

That was the rage for oval asphalt racing in the mid to late 90s. Local hobby shop back then used to shut down the parking lot on Saturday nights to race. That takes me back.

Looking at it makes me think that it could really use blue shocks as well.

I also seen some blue aluminum shock towers on Ebay but they look lighter.
Always looking for new and interesting ways to waste money.

You need to pull that truck out of storage, what’s it doing in storage!!! Lol

It’s an Associated nose. I don’t think I could ever knowingly put an Integy part on an Associated car.

I did throw the idea around in my head about the shocks and towers, and even just shock caps. I have the front and rear trinity blue towers but didn’t want to pull them out of the packaging to decide I didn’t like the look. I’m still more of a plain is better look or function over form. But I’ve got so many GT’s I need to do different stuff to keep things interesting. And this whole idea started when I won the auction for the blue CV engine. Although I do think an O.S. CZZ would look just as good in there.

Oh man all the white parts look amazing against the blue, and the foams with white wheels really set the truck off. VERY nicely done.
Who do you race for ?
Me……. I race for me.
That’s impossible, I was told you need a sponsor to race.

That's where all my stuff is for now. Mine actually isn't all that far from being done. The reason I asked about the nose is mine is clearly an aftermarket piece. I have an Associated one in a package and the two have a definite difference in look. The undershot of yours made it look like mine, but I think it's just the angle of the light.

I believe the different your seeing in photo is because the tub chassis itself is powder coated and the nose plates are anodized.

And Associated's anodizing has never been that consistent over the years.
