I use the metric shafts in some gold bodies, they are extremely smooth.

Piece by piece this is getting there. The #2 shock pistons were

GHEA 2066 Team Associated Tapered Delrin Machined Pistons 2 Hole T4/B4/B44.1.2
or
GHEA 2065-F Pro Team Associated Flat Delrin Machined Pistons T4/B4/B44.1.2

I picked up a pair of each and I'll see which one runs better.

Also the tire inserts are no longer made by pro-line they are
https://www.prolineracing.com/inserts/2.2-pre-glued-2-stage-rear-inserts.asp
Proline part 6184-00 | 2.2" Pre-glued 2-Stage Buggy Rear Inserts

The original Justock ESC was still available, but I opted for the newer version.
The newer version is heaver , but includes polarity protection.

The body is going to take a bit, like a month or two. I am talking to Off The Grid Designs and they are committed to a few bodies before they can get to me. The design isn't going to be the same since the original design was personalized. So I am going to given the a chance to do something different.

I think I am going to keep this a rolling project. Once the suspension and tires are settled it'll be done enough. I'll use a servo, battery and motor I have since I am not confident that I can keep a hot motor and 100c battery combo on the track.

I just got a 5 cell Nimh to use in the electronics that came with the car. The esc go so hot after a 10 minute run I couldn't imagine surviving long running 6 cells. It also runs at a kid friendly speed. The lack of reverse is improving their driving.

Some small progress.
The old tires were unglued and the blue carvers were mounted

A little bit more. I was basically going to just use the stock shocks and wound up building a complete set of v1 threaded 1.39 rear shocks.
I found some inexpensive threaded 1.39 bodies. The machined tapered #2 pistons, the titanium nitride shafts, molded shock caps and shock cups.

With all of the parts together I started on the shock shafts all nip.

I got the shafts of of the package and was surprised that the shafts were gritty.

I gave them a spin in the drill with some metal polish. You can see the before and after.

I had some shock rebuild parts but I tried using the pieces from the traxxas shock set and it simply didn’t work. I had to scavenge the spacers from another set of shock for the build.

with the traxxas spacers the shafts did not move freely.
Once replaced with associated parts the shocks were free moving.

Right now the shocks are resting in a tool holder for the air bubbles to come out of the bodies.

All mounted and ready to go.

The Traxxas parts are made for 3mm shafts. The older AE shafts are 1/8", which is slightly larger.

I have reamed the spacers to 1/8" before.

Thanks for taking an interest in the build. I am hoping by the end of the month that the shell paint will be finished.

Thanks for that offer on passing along questions. I may have one or two once this closer to 'done.' Being a team sponsored driver and taking a 20+ year old kit and besting the most modern release from your own sponsor seems like it would take a special kind of personality.

The reedy 1508 servo is on order. I am still in paint limbo waiting for the body. Today I got the front shocks squared away.

32.5 weight associated shock oil
Blue springs from associated
Traxxas x-rings
Ghea 10mm #2 pistons

When I drop it stays planted , no slap bounce or hop.

I may just tear down the car and rebuild it again with the full transmission load out.

So it looks like the logo stickers on the body are common Reedy/Associated/Jconcepts logos except for the complex ink logo.

I haven't tracked down the exact chassis skin but the all about it from Mattox design looks close enough for me.

I might be able to get the logo stickers made there as well

Adding an additional logo.
Off The Grid Design Vector.png
I also acquired a rc10t with v1 black arms and white plastics as well as the v2 threaded shocks, the v1 aluminum top shaft, and the customworks slipper eliminator. Basically I am doing everything for this build again.

Does anyone have these logos handy that can give me approximate sizes on the lengths and heights?
Are there any recommendations for where to get these made?
