Dyeing Jconcepts plastic

Post by JosephS »

Has anyone had experience dying the the Jconcepts mono wheels?

My son is interested in black wheel for his car. Would the yellow plastic dye black better or white? Would RIT dye work or is there a better option?

The graphite black is popular but I usually can't find it.

The last several batches that I've dyed were with regular Rit black liquid. It took longer than the powder but the final result looks good.

Awesome to know. I already have a bottle of black RIT dye. Would the yellow or white be better to start with? How long do you boil them for?

The JConcepts wheels I have don't seem like nylon. They seem more like ABS. I'm not certain they are dyable.

These started out as yellow J-Concepts mono wheels.

This was using regular Rit black dye in a strong concentration with some vinegar added. I boiled everything for about 20 minutes.
