This is an unboxing of the RC10 DS kit from Japan. This is the racer spec kit with teflon-coated shocks and full bearings. I think most Associated kits sold in Japan were all racing spec since parts and hop-ups were harder to come by. Mine didn't come with a body...is this normal or just missing? This is an interesting kit, and would definitely be easier to run on rougher parking lot tracks! Box is in good condition as are the vintage brochures.
The marketing for the conversion kit was clear:
"Many racers have older RC10's or RC10T's that are used less often because they have switched over to our RC10B2..."
Smart idea to keep thousands of the old stuff versatile, running and relevant.

Yes, it's normal. Associated made variations of the kit. There were 4 associated bodies that were offered with the DS but the racer kit(the smallest of the boxes) lacked a body. They also offered kits with no engine and some with an engine.
Be aware that since the kit is old the tires will not be fresh. They may have the beginnings of dry rot and may not hold a round shape.
That happened to me on my nitro DS kyosho Chevy build.
It was exciting to finally get my first Edinger RC10. To top it off it was in mint condition. Luckily, I was the only bidder and won the auction paying 500,000 yen in 2019. This originally sold for 34,500 yen in the 1980s or 345 USD at the time. The...

If the trans is really smooth, someone probably took their time blueprinting the outdrives. They weren't bad, but the rework made them super smooth

This was the first RC10GX (NIB) I ever saw auctioned off in Japan. It is the earliest version of the RC10-GX. The main difference between this and the US spec is the inclusion of Yokomo aluminum wheel adaptors for Yokomo 2.15 inch rear wheels, extra...

Hello All, it's been a while since I posted on RC10talk. My friend Rainbow R RC invited me to talk about my RC10 addiction and to show RCers what a vintage RC car is all about on his channel. I did give a shoutout to all the wonderful and helpful...
Finally finished and ready to show is my RC10 Graphite. Purchased a few years back from Yahoo Auctions, I noticed the familiar paint design and complete electronics package and wanted this car in my collection. Unfortunately, some of the...

Got my parts, thanks for the fast service! Those Spring clamps will come in handy, so many broken old style clamps on restorations need to be replaced.
