Today was exciting. The first batch of iridium carbon fiber parts got cut. This includes BK rear towers for the 93 worlds car (mounting holes still need to be countersunk) as well as a batch of towers for the Losi mini JRX2. I’m sure many of you have seen “iridium” carbon fiber and I imagine many have not. Basically is a high strength grade of carbon fiber made in the USA that has holographic glitter particles embedded in the surface. This is apparently the material Brian Kinwald used for the rear shock tower on his 93 worlds car. Let me know what you think! (One photo shows the holographic glitter particles in the microscope)

Is this material being produced again?
You can order it from DA graphite.
And, they still have some 2mm sheets left over from the 90's. Not gonna make any chassis or towers with it, but....
This is the material from DA graphite in 0.072”. The 0.090” would be better but doesn’t exist. This material is better quality than most commercial carbon fiber and I think the 0.072” should be more than adequate strength wise.
I am building a driver to run on pavement and I'm wanting to do some aesthetic upgrades so it looks cooler
To that end, I'm looking at taking some of the parts to get hydrodipped, like the chassis and motor plate, the tubes, maybe the...

FactoryWorks has been my go-to for carbon fiber for a while now.
A very knowledgeable business member and moderator here on RC10 talk.
PM GoMachV for available parts and cost, that's what I do.
Or check out his Ebay listings.
Can someone please suggest or point me in the right direction for a wing mount to use for this tower? F-L told me the Kyosho mount referenced on their site is a Lazer ZX-R. Is the ZX-5 mount the same?

There are others that are similar to those like KSG for example. The old school mounts are tough to find these days, but they pop up from time to time. I snagged a bud's racing set a few weeks ago ...
Mid motor has been the thing here in the PNW racing scene for the last few months. While it's awesome to see some innovation in the R/C industry, I still am not sold on most of the current kits. Having owned almost every major brand...

From a serious carpet racer who made most carpet A finals in the Uk including British championships feel the same way, lost the passion since the B2/3 got replaced. It really was and still is a fun drive so am going to have these bits from you when...
Do any of you happen to have a Carbon Works RC10 rear shock tower on any of your RC10s? I need to find out how far apart the 2 rows of wing mount holes are from each other and also how far apart the holes in each row are from each other....

Cool, thank you!
I'll work on it for ya, if someone doesnt get to it before I do :)
I've seen this tower on a few of the rpm cars here, and wondered if any computer whiz had ever scanned one? A copy I could print would be really helpful! Mostly I'm curious about how the upper shock holes would compare to a stock shock tower. Maybe...

the outside holes on the worlds tower line up with the inside holes on a stock rc10 tower. the worlds tower has 2 more holes per side to the inside.
Last night I did a test cut for a Brian Kinwald 93 worlds style rear shock tower as close as I can reasonably get it I think. Let me know what you think.

This took a lot longer than I wanted, but the 93 Kinwald towers are going on eBay today made from 0.072” iridium carbon. Obviously, these are going to be fairly limited being a niche item, but if you are looking for one, check my eBay store.
Well I have finally got back to my RC To-Do list, and this has been one of the projects making me itch. I decided that I wanted a new style RC10 rear tower, and wanted to incorporate a few changes, something that would make it a little more modern....
