I have had 5 or 6 Schumacher wings in a row with the overspray film on the side where I normally paint. On the first one I thought someone must have loaded the lexan into the press upside down by mistake. Then I got another, and another, and another....
History tells me that there is an idiot in every crowd, and more often than not, it is me, so....what am I missing? Why is the film on the bottom of the wing? Do people prefer to have the side skirts look nice and shiny at the expense of the top side of the wing being dull? That is the only reason I can think of to justify painting the top side of the wing.
From the pic, it looks like it is on the outside. Like, if I were looking down on it. I think most of them are painted underneath so they look shiny. I do anyway. I may be missing something myself, since I'm usually the idiot in the crowd. Don't try to take my spot!

I think most of the time, they do wings on a form with a bodyshell as well, in which case the overspray film would be on the detail side of the lexan sheet, and not the flat side. As such, the wing would be the same deal, with the overspray on the 'top' or detail side, which would be the bottom of the wing itself. If you ever see the old Cat or Cougar lexan body sheets, with all the various lexan parts molded into the one sheet, my clunky words would make sense

I haven't seen that, but I get what you mean. I have seen those lexan rear hub dust shields for the Top Cat, Cougar, ProCAT...
OK, I guess the wings are fine and it is just me. I thought maybe Schumacher knew I crash a lot, and so they inverted the process to make my cars look better when lying upside down.
So...on a related note, how do you guys clean overspray from the top side of your wings? I tried brake cleaner once...
Would a piece of Reynolds cling wrap (or a couple of pieces) work as top side overspray film? I don't always paint the wing, so this isn't always a problem for me.

It would have helped, if I had thought of doing that

I tried cling wrap on my last wing. I wouldn't cling. I ended up just being careful with my spray direction.

I have tried this a few times, and fail badly at it each time! It just seems to always get on the topside no matter what. It is usually light though, so a quick wipe of Nitro takes it right off. I now go masking tape, 2" around the edges, and the big 6" roll for filler.
I build RCs like people would have done back in the '90s ..................................... if they had 3D printers.
I just finished a paint job on my car and got a little overspray on the top of the body. Is there a way to remove the overspray without dulling the finish? I used Tamiya spray paint.

Try some fine polish for cars, even stuff like mothers cleaner wax that has some fine grit in there.A clean old towel or rag, even old socks the bottom part works great, rub carefully and do a small area at a time.It should do the trick, save those...
I recently decided to paint my original circa 1990 rc10 shell.
However the ancient overspray mask doesn't want to peel off. Even in small spot it feel pretty stuck on and I can scratch it off with my fingernail, but it seems to be shredding when I...

I'm thinking all the usual ways of removing stickers or anything adhesive would be different for overspray film, because that film isn't applied with adhesive. Pulling it off with tape was a good idea. Maybe I'd have tried a hair dryer.
A few years ago we shot a feature length film at The Hobby Stop in Rock Hill, SC. After a much-too-long post production process it is finally finished. The movie is a dramedy about a young man trying to get back to college after taking four years...
