Kyosho mint green paint
Kyosho mint green paint
Good afternoon,
Has anyone come up with a paint color that matches the mint green parts on the Kyosho 20th anniv. Ultima? Or possibly one that compliments it? Having no luck so far. The manual calls for mixing bottled paint, but I'm looking for something I don't need an airbrush for.
Thanks!

If you don't get anywhere on finding an acceptable green you can always take a wheel to an automotive paint supplier near you (PPG, Dupont, etc.) they'll scan it with a spectrometer then sell you that color single stage enamel in a ready to spray aerosol can.

That's excellent advice.
You can prime lexan with Tamiya PS-55 Flat Clear which will allow enamel to bond to lexan.

The closest I have found off the shelf is Montana Gold in color code 6130 - Malachite.
It is an acrylic graffiti paint available from art supply stores, although you can also get it from Amazon. The green wing shown is from the Javelin mint cage set. The paint itself is flat, which doesn't matter inside a body, but backed with white it is a decent match.

The official colour according to Kyosho is: I think the video Akira Kogawa did on the Mid 87 included the actual paints he used to mix the colour, which were all airbrush paints.
I would look through build videos on youtube, I'm sure someone will have found a similar colour.

HOw well does that seem to hold on lexan? And do you have a wheel to set it next to?Elkcycles wrote: ↑Wed Apr 30, 2025 10:06 pm The closest I have found off the shelf is Montana Gold in color code 6130 - Malachite.

@HS-YZ250
The paint is an acrylic, so it is flexible like lexan paint. Adhesion is good, but you want to work several light coats. I haven't sprayed the body yet, but did a few soda bottles. I was practicing with white backing and will try silver next. My plan is to do an RB5 SB or DB in this paint scheme first. I have a spare SB body to try if I have a few minutes this weekend.
