Re: Proposed: R/C Spring Garage Sale Weekend
I'm going to post the first one on Friday night and everyone can add it it from then on. I would say the post should remain open until Sunday night.

Re: Proposed: R/C Spring Garage Sale Weekend
I actually have a couple items I would like to put up on Friday, maybe someone here will find them "useful"
Re: Proposed: R/C Spring Garage Sale Weekend
I would wait, I got a feeling this will be a big happening!
Hey Rouge, did you ever figure out if the BST rules apply or will there be Best Offer stuff? Are there any rules at all that we should know about?
Just asking. Doesn't make a difference with me. You all know how I feel about PM's when it comes to selling stuff on here! Thats the only gripe I have!

Re: Proposed: R/C Spring Garage Sale Weekend
My tentative plan is to have the single posting at the front of the General Forum for this weekend only, but I'm still waiting on Admin approval of that. The idea is that it's open to everyone, until Monday morning, where it gets moved into the B/S/T forum for qualified members only. This way, we can post the event on other forums and generate not only some new traffic for this site, but a LOT of buyer/trader traffic for this thread. The whole concept of a city-wide garage sale is that more traffic equals more sales for everyone.
The loose plan that I have come up with is to set the basic ground rules in the first post, then all following posts can be added by anyone who wants to contribute to the sale. I'd like to see NO photos in your actual listing post, so if you want pictures of something to buy, ask the seller and they can post in PM or e-mail. This way, the thread won't be overloaded with a lot of photos of spring clamps and bearing kits. All dealings should be done via PM, IM or e-mail to keep the white noise in the thread to an absolute minimum. Every seller should post ALL of his relevant contact information, including his full name, e-mail address (if that's the way they want to be contacted), and everything MUST have an asking price on it, per forum rules.
Again, all dealings should be handled off of the forum via PM, IM or e-mail. This is internet buying and selling, and you are all responsible for your own actions. Let's all keep this legit and above the board and make the concept really work for everyone.
Pretty simple concept—and if my hunch is right, this should be successful enough to to a couple of times a year (maybe a Spring Cleaning and a Fall Cleaning).
Clear out your PM inboxes boys and girls, we're gonna make some deals this weekend and clean out some workshops (and fill up some others)!
More info as I have it, but get ready, my first post will be going up this evening!

Re: Proposed: R/C Spring Garage Sale Weekend
i have no problem with it.
but i will say this, i want this to be a "sale only" type thing........ no trading. unless it's with an approved bst member of this site. i don't want to hear anything from anyone or read anything in the "complaints department" if they get screwed over by someone that isn't a member here.

I havn't looked into it yet but is there a way to pre-post the items and then just hit the go button so to speak tomorrow morning?

You can type it out in MS word and Cut n' paste in the AM, but that's all I know of

Type it out in NotePad, and not Word, if you can. MS products put a LOT of extraneous code in copy & pastes to forums for some reason. Makes a HUGE mess most of the time. Save it as a TXT file and you should be free and clear of strange formatting.
