I believe the Jenkins brothers that race in the TORC series are the current CEO's of Traxxas. To me the best passed with the end of a race team for Traxxas. Fortunately it's still pretty easy to find parts for almost any old Traxxas racer, they still have never changed their suspension design very much.

I can remember when I started racing in 92 that there were at least 4 Traxxas sponsored guys racing at my local track inluding Gary Guest, it was fun to watch every week.

The TRX-1 was the only competitive vehicle they ever made, maybe besides the early Blue Eagles that were out before the JRXT and RC10T.

Everything else is junk plain and simple, don't even get me started on the Slash thats making the local race seen almost unbarable.

With the popularity of the slash I would like to see Traxxas build a competitive car/stadium truck. The TRX-1 is one of my favorite cars and I love the looks even with the wierd body. Hell in 1991 if you had a TRX-1 and a Blue Eagle you were ahead of a lot of others. I wonder why they disappeared from the race scene? More market for the "everyday basher" or just too much $$$ to keep up with Losi and Associated? It makes me wonder.......

I would have to say theres way more of a market for the "everyday basher." I remember reading someplace (possibly on here) about it.

i remember the first traxxas i ever saw, a cat. it belonged to a friend of mine and he got a hornet to replace it. he hated the cat.
i actually scored a traxxas spirit truck recently in a parts lot and it's pretty much just a cat with a truck body on it.

i have mixed emotions about traxxas, on one hand i hate rtr's and the fact that they haven't done anything new in a long time (slash doesn't count, it's just a rustler/pede).
on the other hand the slash has brought some new life into the hobby, which is a good thing. sure its brought some real jerks into the hobby but they will get bored and move on. i know alot of guys who bought a slash, raced it for a while and then bought an sc10 so they could be competitve. the new track near me wouldn't be there if it weren't for the slash.

i still give my buddies who love traxxas a hard time. i tell them my 20 year old cars can smoke thier brand new brushless traxxas and then i show them. lol

People can say what they want, but Traxxas is one of the few companies that had and have the guts to bring out vehicles that don't fit the established race categories.
In some way they are the old tamiya: a way in to the hobby, but with some higher end cars as well (unfortunately no longer in the buggy range)

Man I remember growing up in Europe, and reading Car Action and the other magazine (can't remember) which. And seeing the Traxxas Cars (TRX, TCP, and SRT) in races was kinda cool to me, because we could get Losi, Yokomo, and Associated cars via distribution. Yet the Traxxas cars were not available until about 1996, not including the few models Graupner rebranded. I have always wanted a TRX-1, to build up as I would have back in the 90's.

Gary was one of their top drivers and normally made the A main in stock and the B in mod at the nationals. He tested 3 different versions of the TRX3 at my local track. He had boxes full of chassis plates and A arms of different geometry. Of course all his test bed cars had a stealth tranny in them though. He absolutely hated the Traxxas ball diff.

Crazy as this may sound i like the look of the TRX-10 'BULLET' 2WD buggy. Sure its not as cool as the TRX-1 but it has this AE look to it with a body that could be relative to an AYK Radiant.
I wonder how good/bad the trans was on the TRX-10??
