Early racer build; could use some recommendations

The Super Champ Funco body would be a better choice if your car were more of an Edinger.

The Double Seater Funco would be more appropriate but I think MrLexan was the only one with the mold for it. Besides it and the Chenowth there's the Proline Class One, Dahm's Warrior, or something specifically made for the RC10 by MRP. Of those, the Class One would be the aftermarket body most often seen on buggies featured in the race reports of the late '80s....but the Chenowth is the only one being repro'd.

EDIT: Thinking about it more the Andy's arms are making it come off as a bit too "new". The stock arms, short fronts, would help make the car look older. You should also ditch the slotted cup(s).

What are you looking at for a timeline on the buggy? Phin brings up some good points in his post above. I assumed you were thinking 1985 by the term "Early" in your title but I could be wrong.

BTW: As far as long arms go. I dont know when the Andys arms came out but wide Arms were being ran early on as hand fabricated units at least here in Colorado. I want to say as early as 1986. So it did occur of you wanted to replicate something like that.

Yeah I'm thinking I need to adjust my timeline. I don't want to get rid of the arms as my first rc10 had them and they were my first mod. I may look for white ones tho, they make it look younger! Lol

I have a Mears body on my houge car, I will try it tonight and post a pic to see what everyone thinks

if you want the andy's arms, you pretty much have to get rid of everything else. if you want everything else, gotta get rid of the andy's arms.

We're the andys seriously that late? We talking like 87ish? Seemed like they were around by the time the ultima came around. I guess that makes my wheel and tire choice too old. Ugh. The motor and speed control should be good for ~86-87 tho right? I have a few too many short arm cars already- it's going to pain me to remove them if the other components are too early for the arms.

more than anything, for me, it's the front tire/rim combo that really throws it off. some 1.9 proline viper or knobby tires on jelly beans would be more fitting.

andy's arms were '88 at the earliest, from what i've seen.

Damn, those tires grew on me. I have some newer stuff that would make it right, I bet these would fetch some coin on the bay. That may be the better route.

Parma ball joints are on my list but seem hard to find. We're there any other popular ones? Rocket city was later iirc?

You mean the heavy duty parma rod ends? Those pop up on ebay every now and then. Quickest way to get something close would be a bulk pack from dubro.

But I did try the Mears body on to see how it would look, keep in mind it's cut for the houge


And I went shipping in the hobby room for tires. Turns out almost all of mine are 2.0 and 2.1 but I did find one set of old proline. I don't care for the look much tho. I also found a couple sets of the proline chrome covers so I guess I could dress it up that way.

Yeah I was wrong...those wheels don't look right on the Houge with wide arms.

What about putting the Parma MSC & motor in your monster truck?
