Early racer build; could use some recommendations

Post by GoMachV »

Using up some pieces, decided to build an early car with some early upgrades. I have the Parma speed control with reverse, Parma yokomo motor, andys arms, Parma front bumper, proline front wheels with You-G tires, and a couple S-38 servos. Not shown is a bolink tub cover that will be fitted.

I could use some ideas for a body. I don't want to just do a protech and I fear the jammin jumper I have is waaaaay too new. What should I be looking for? I think an early Parma would be cool but I never see them come up.

I will get some up tomorrow, done playing for tonight  it is basically a 1 ohm version of their performance slot car controller resistor. I want to say it was called a turbo cooler or something similar. The micro switch needs to be wired up but it allows reverse at the brake windings. The micro switch is fun to get aligned. It will be even more fun to wire it working off memory and principals! Lol!

In case your memory and principals fail you, I have a couple Parma's myself, and one even has the instruction sheet:

No problem. I suppose I should put it over into the scans too. I have no idea who Paul is btw. - Brian

Parma Chenowth body would be age appropriate and fit better on the chassis. You should know where to get a repro of it. ;)

I don't think they do, but they do have the Scorpion (another Tamiya SRB hold over design) that isn't Parma but MRP if i remember. It's the one with the wing on the roof. That would be my vote.

I see your vision I think, and think this thing will look cool. But imo the turnbukles (in favor of stainless 4-40 rod from the lhs), the star knockoffs (in favor of wingnuts or just 8-32 nylon nuts), and the andy's arms (in favor of shorty white ae nylon), kinda stick out to me as out-of-wack time period wise, which I can tell is what you are going for. Just my 2 cents.

They've been selling Chenowth repros for quite some time now. For at least like a year...maybe two.

Copy. I see the issue. It's how to spell Chenowth, or Chenowith, or Chenoweth... :?

I already got chewed out by Reggie on the buckles  they will be stripped to mimick a Thorp buckle.

As far as the andys arms, I remember running them on my first rc10 so I don't think they are toooo far off, but I need to so a little searching and see. I have located some 8-32 wing nuts that should look cool on there as well

The Bolink Funco is a good recommendation. Take a look at the literature that came with the original RC10 cars and the body choices they ran that are shown in those photos. There is one that looks like a Super Champ buggy body (no roof wing) and this is what I first ran on my new Edinger car as the kit was a #6000. I also preferred the other bodys. TBG has a body that looks very similar with a cage mounted wing. I have one of these and the Bolink Funco that are slated for RC10s.
