Yes slipper shaft was only cut down because of it length, it didn't need cutting but I wanted to fit the shallower RPM gear cover

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
Dan, although slightly outclassed, the Wild One actually handled really well and on standard kit tyres I think. Was amazing to watch going around.
Will give staggered ribs a try, hopefully next time I get to the track I will be able to try a few different things and improve on the front end problem. Otherwise I think the car is nice to drive.

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
Thanks Jirka for the suggestions, some very useful input from you for me to try.
I had already fitted about 4mm of limiters in the shocks and running outside holes on wishbones front and rear. Tried Black springs on front for one round and car would hop around over small bumps and ruts, but with no significant improvement to front end dipping. A hole further out on front wishbone I feel would make for a huge improvement, but not possible. May try some more spacers in shocks as car still seemed to have plenty of droop and ride height, probably to much. The rear of the car seemed very good, perhaps to good as it felt planted compared to the front that just felt to soft.
My shock set up if it helps was:
4mm limiters between cartridge and pistons front and rear.
3mm limiters between cartridge and shock bottom to reduce upward travel front and rear.
Outer holes on wishbones front and rear.
Middle hole on towers front and rear.
No.56 pistons all round.
50wt oil front, 30wt rear.
Blue springs front, red springs rear.
Trevor.

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
Your "suspension" setup seem to be close enough to be right. The problem is rear wing. I never used smaller wing than Yokomo's plastic wings (indoor) with little trimmed side plates in my JRx cars. Normally outdoors I used ae wild or narrow v-shaped (don'n know the real name for them) or similar wings and sometimes with additional larger side plates. Those made JRx cars run like a train. I never understood how Losi team drivers in US managed to drove with stock JRx "wings", maybe tracks and traction was just so different or they were better drivers
.
Just double check that Your camber can not turn to positive during hard cornering.

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
And use pivot support #1 with max rear toe in.
And to wings: the more back the wing is mounted and the bigger the side plates are the more "train"effect You will get= your car's rear end will stay at back no matter how hard You drove it. Wing hight is not so important here.

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
Interesting on rear wing, I should be having a practice day the weekend after next and will be trying quite a few things that have been suggested in this thread. Will let you know how I get on and hopefully it'll show some improvements.
Thanks,
Trevor.

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
Lengthening the front camber link by moving to the inner hole on shock mount. What would this do, would it remove a bit of bite off the front end.

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
I've thought about the AE VTS slipper but can anyone say (who has experience) what the improvement is over a standard dual disk slipper? Would be interesting to know....jaro wrote:Just built a new Retrofit gearbox for my SE, plan is to get it as near to the car I had back in the day. I do plan to race it though, so I think subtle changes will be made over time.
I also have enough parts to convert it to 2.61 if required, but was unsure which would be better so stuck with 2.19 for now, I'll probably be using an 8.5T motor.
Decided to fit a dual slipper from the offset as it should be easier on the gearbox, have an 87t spur on order which should be nearer the 88t supplied. Was also wondering weather to fit the VTS slipper, should be possible, may try the one from my modern racer, would their be an advantage?
And fitted to the car.

I use the VTS on my modern car. Would say their is a subtle difference but nothing significant, a little smoother on power. One thing I have noticed is wear rate of pads is considerably improved compared to dual slipper.

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
Thanks! I managed to source one from the USA for a decent price.....and it all fits together very nicely too.jaro wrote:I use the VTS on my modern car. What a nice example of a Pro SE this is, and yet more useful info within. I can see I'll have to go some to get mine up to speed

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
Parts for the Pro SE are out there, just takes a while for them to turn up, so grab them when you can. Meanwhile I see you have a few XX's to work on.oldrc wrote:What a nice example of a Pro SE this is, and yet more useful info within. I can see I'll have to go some to get mine up to speed
You'll have to try get along to Kidderminster's next meeting on August 24th

Re: My Losi Pro SE Racer Project
Made a few changes since last meeting, some made minor differences but found changing front tyres to Losi stagger ribs transformed the car completely and made it a whole different car. Have some Schumacher blue compounds and Proline M3 ribs to try next time.
Changes made, as I said some didn't make much difference but worth trying:
Front oil changed from 45wt to 50wt.
Front piston changed from red to smaller black.
Jammin steering enhancement kit.
Homemade front anti roll bar fitted.
Front top link moved to innermost hole.
Front shock mount position moved to inner hole.
MIP CVD driveshafts.
Rear pink springs instead of red.
Changed rear outer hingepin to one with e-clips and fitted spacers.
I found the harder compound front tyres made the biggest change, so for next round I think I can soften the front end slightly.

I'm interested as to which company makes/ made the neon yellow front wheels that you have fitted as I've not seen them before...jaro wrote:Made a few changes since last meeting, some made minor differences but found changing front tyres to Losi stagger ribs transformed the car completely and made it a whole different car.
