Nothing wrong with kimbrough, they have been around forever and make a good inexpensive gear

The 3500 kv motor is probably too fast, but I thought I could slow it down with a different pinion/spur combo. I can always swap the motor out for something else. Looks like folks have been using the 72/28 combination with kv motor.
I looked at the Kimbrough Racing site, and thought about trying their 48 p spur & pinion set up.
Is your RC 10 ballraced?

This would be the first thing I would do if its not, irrespective of what motor/ESC you plan to use.. If you have to disassemble the tranny to fit the bearings,. it would be wise to replace the idler gears with some from the re-re whilst you have it apart..

I also see nothing wrong with using a 3500kv motor.. You can always adjust the speed with gearing and ESC settings if it is too fast.. Just keep an eye on your motors temperature if you are running it for long periods of time..

The trans has the bearing kit. I split the case and cleaned everything up, the idle gears were fine. I ordered the Robinson Racing 48p/81T spur, and 21T pinion. Also got a Losi 24T pinion. Installed the 3500kv motor & esc and did a short test drive using the stock 15T pinion/51T spur.
While I had it apart I made a pair of aluminum lower control arms to go with the dhawk control arm mounts & hubs (in transit). Also made a pair of 1 pc dually wheels, and rebuilt the shocks. I'm looking for a second pair of 1.5-1.6 sand paddle tires for the duallies.
I found the tires in the photo on ebay, they give me a little more ground clearance.
Thanks for the help.
