more vintage kyosho vintage hopups and mods - 4x4 scorpion!!
Re: more vintage kyosho vintage hopups and mods - 4x4 scorpi
I love the tapered drive axles, think they are very cool so I kept them, the drive washer goes and fits in place, it's metal with front face knurled, I stacked an aluminum hex ontop of that and then the wheel, metal will grip the soft aluminum hex easy enough and it has not slipped so far

The links have gone domant, and I have since not been able to get to the site, if anyone finds it, please post links here, there were many other modded up kyosho 1000 circuit buggies there.

I was bummed I couldn't see that pics too. Sounds very cool.

oh yes, you had a buggy with mono cb 89 shock setup, one had front 5 slotted alloy wheels, just so cool, its a Japanese site, would have been closed off, I don't know how to find another that have those pics, should have saved the pictures

Thanks Jeff!
Oooh what I would give to get some more detailed shots of that 4wd Scorpion/Tomahawk!
That Dirt Burners monoshock, I've already reproduced for my "Mohawk"

THANKS GoMachV, Mono shock on any ride is cool looking. Yeah doing a 4X4 scorp, totally up for it, TIME TUNNEL 2 has a 4x4 beetle, check it out but I would rather have the duel trailing arm setup in the picture shown here, chain or belt drive is the easiest way to go

Re: more vintage kyosho vintage hopups and mods - 4x4 scorpi
Phin also had a great idea of a 4x4 system where you just use a second gearbox in front, same assualt gearboxs - they have a bevel gear so the 2 gearboxes can be linked via a straight shaft to transfer same rpm, the rear gearbox can have a spur gear on the other end of the bevel gear shaft and powered like the regular setup for the electric scorp and tomahawk buggies. thanks Phin. anything can be done if you willing to put your mind to it!

FO A MOMENT I WAS STOKED!

It is WAY COOL! Can we see the insides, please? I wanna see what you got there. I had to cut the chassis short at the rear bu 1.5cm and cut short the fronts to make the SBB body fit. will do a carbon fiber bumper soon.
Very rewarding project, the kyosho 1000 circuit series chassis is my fav and hey from Tamiya - the best VW scale body, what a combination.
I will soon be putting in some 1886 and phantom shocks in, internal springs so it looks clean!
How you liking the gearhead slotted wheels, for me they are very well made
