Re: e-GT buggy build
no, not yet. I got to the point of building shocks, and then VONATS happened and I had a bunch of stuff to prep, and then month has been flying by.
I will be back on it soon. I have to figure out a body for it......leaning towards possibly a jconcepts detonator worlds because of the shape of the back. I have to check to see if the front will clear the chassis shape. I might just throw a crappy used body on it anyway.

Re: e-GT buggy build
Ah yes, I forgot about VONATS.
I recall reading a thread that discussed the various bodies currently available that will fit an RC10 mid.
However, wouldn't it be cool if someone with vacuum forming experience was able to alter the back portion of the Protech, Viper and Turbo Mirage bodies to fit RC10's with the mid motor modification? So maybe you wouldn't feel a need to resort to an aftermarket design body and maybe the car would be more easily recognized as a vintage RC10 -- sorta like the way AE might have done it if they'd continue to develop the first generation car for modern hard-packed clay tracks. Not that the aftermarket bodies look bad or anything but I guess I just prefer the AE ones.

Re: e-GT buggy build
Hehhe thanks for checking in. Very soon! I ended up cleaning up my bench and also ended up buying a Tamiya manta Ray and started working on that. So between all that stuff I haven't gotten back to it. Going to start using vacation days so should get moving with new pics.
It looks like maybe a viper is going to fit the best but I have to check the shape of the jconepts body.. that side profile really lends itself to a rear tower position.

Re: e-GT buggy build
Finally made some baby steps. Built up shocks and adjusted internal limiters. Added front sway bar. Trying to attach from my phone but may be too large. If so I'll add tomorrow am.

Re: e-GT buggy build
yeah, wasn't so bad. Still, need to add oil and bleed.......I've got to trim my rear tower a little as the shock caps crash into the lower section. Also need to remove my custom long length shock bushings. They are threaded and take up the length the nut normally does behind a stock bushing. In this case, I want the shock to lean back a little more so a stock bushing with a ball profile will be much better.

Re: e-GT buggy build
I also think I have selected a body that will fit. The gt chassis kicks out pretty quickly behind the front tower, so i have to pick a body that flares or is a little wide. I have a jammin jumper body that looks like it will fit. I was going with a viper, but like most bodies it has an ear feature around the shock tower that will look stupid with the tower being in the rear. The viper does, the protech does, even a b3 body does. The jumper is straight through. The detonator world's does the same thing but it's narrow behind the front tower so it's not as good a fit.

Re: e-GT buggy build
yep. they are custom machined from some threaded standoffs I have. they are nice natural nylon and the exact length(I think 3/8") so I thread them on a spud, and turn a step to match the shock cap ID. I really should make a form tool to cut more of a ball shape; as it is, I leave them slightly loose by a couple thou to allow for some misalignment. looks nice and clean without the extra nut on the back. I'll take a better pic, but I may also have taken a pic before in my woin build.

Re: e-GT buggy build
Would it not handle better if the battery was inline with the mororplate and steering sevo ??? Easier to tune ( suspension wise) instead of having it offset like a oval chassis ???

Re: e-GT buggy build
I'll have to play around with it and see what happens. The LIPO is pretty light to begin with, consider that the motor is offset to the other side, and the electronics are down the center. You are right, it may want to slide more to the center. There isn't much room so I will have to just live with what I can get.
once I get it assembled, I am planning on looking at some balancing to see where the CL of the full dress is. if its way too far off I'll adjust.

Re: e-GT buggy build
Oh yeah, made the nose brace tubes too....couple pairs as the older boy's car needed a set also.
and I double stacked the front tower(s), I think they are rc carbon works or something, but they are kinda thin. So two are more 'Joe-proof'

Re: e-GT buggy build
I didn't notice any issues with the battery being on the left on the Vonats trucks. It felt pretty balanced.
That being said, trucks tend to be more forgiving.
