Procat braces

Post by kaszal »

I'm going to ask Fibre-Lyte if they can make these out of 4mm carbon...

The idea is to lock up the front towers and crashback system to get better performance from the dampers and more responsive and consistent handling. The downside is that without the crash-back something else is more likely to break.

Any thoughts?

I seem to recall BITD we used to put a load of those bands on the front to lessen the effect of the crash back system, I can't remember how many though.

A good solid tie-wrap on the bottom and a turnbuckle on the top shock mountscrews would have been my cheap quick-and-dirty. But your car deserves more than just Q&D.
Now, where do you plan to put that upper link? If you put it behind the shocks, won't the 4 mm extra pose a problem?

Thanks for the suggestions. I don't think the 4mm will cause a problem but it will change the angle of the dampers slightly. I'll post photos this weekend if the pieces arrive!

 maybe you can put the bar over the backside of the shocktower? That' way your shock position is not affected

Sad times

Post by kaszal »

I'm considering selling my Procat

Sorry if that means I break my promise not to sell.

Obviously I will sell the electrics separately but I'm wondering if I should sell the chassis whole or break up the main components e.g. custom carbon fibre chassis with LiPo trays and belt cover, custom ballraced steering, front and rear diffs, belts, slipper assembly, suspension, alloy upgrades, bodyshell/wing/tray, Tamiya dampers, 2 sets of wheels etc.

Waddya think?

Given the popularity of your threads about the development of this car, I would say it has a bit of a cult status amongst vintage Schumacher fans...

Oh my, I only just saw this. I can't believe you're selling it Luke! My own restore went on hold when the little one came along, now I fear that all those parts are never going to make it into a car that I'll actually race. :(
Whoever gets this had better treasure it, cos it's a beauty! I only wish I could justify *another* Procat!
