Which brand chassis did you end up using? Is it the short or long wheelbase (short=original wheelbase of the alu framed ultima)

The chassis have 5mm in more, on the wheelbase.
The original chassis have different holes near the pack (more small and at different place).
This is a Trinity / Composite craft chassis.

Hey, Joel used soft silver springs in front. You have medium blacks installed.

Having watched the 87 worlds DVD countless times I dont think any particular car performed above another. It looked like luck played a big part with the success of a driver at Romsay. Bold statement i know but there was a lot of spills and cars being plagued with gremlins.
Although i truly love Joel's Ultima i dont think it was as good a car as the RC10 back then, just that Joel managed to get the car around the circuit with less hassles than some other drivers.
Its funny how much things changed in just two years by the time the 89 worlds came to Australia. I thought the driving and cars had advanced exponentialy in such a short time. Truly was the beginning of the 'hay day'.

I like the mods made to the Ultima but what was up with those two cable ties running under the chassis to strap a stick pack in. Thats pretty agricultural at best.
