Re: RC10 Graphite Team car Oval style 91'
Well our 3 track series BITD was run mainly in a Upstate New York winter series, so really cold floor/track temps and low humidity and dry indoor heat all winter long made our tracks ( except 1 ) really more like polished concrete with baby powder on it and to be honest the 40 deg R&D Terminator's initial steering was so agressive that you couldn't get the rear end to react as fast as the front did so you were either loose in and tight off, or the exact reverse. Langraff's cars were great if the surface was as flat as concrete, but very poor if you needed a bunch of weight transfer ( they had a flat nose that stuck out 3.5" past the front axles that would plow into the surface as well ).
So anyway, as slick and bumpy as our tracks were compared to Kranzels etc- the 6036 with those tires offered just the right amount of neutral feel that you needed, plus the tall profile of the tires helped the car keep traction everywhere.
Plus, at one track ( RC Competition Corner ) they had a great, flat and high bite surface that we took CW Qualifier fronts w/o foams and the Waffles ( sealed with fix a flat we would insert a syringe into the RR and pump stagger into the tire with air ).

With all the stuff we did to the Team Cars, when the B2 came out-box stock it was good for another two laps over the best and most throughly modded Team Car.

Re: RC10 Graphite Team car Oval style 91'
As always with my stuff, I have more ideas than time.... But I had a little time and had sourced a few more extremely difficult things to find for this car-
NIP S&K Greyhound Slot motor
NIP CRP Dynamite front tires
Tekin Reciever and ESC
I also chose to take the new chassis off, and install my actual chassis from 91' decals, extra holes (2) and all
I still have a bit to do, but last Thurs eve when I was finishing this it felt like being 13 again, it was just like prepping it on a Friday eve for Sat AM -

Re: RC10 Graphite Team car Oval style 91'
Decided to take a little time on as many of my projects as I could, wrap up some loose ends etc- and this week has been oval car week
Changed the steering over to an A&L setup after finding a matte carbon rack and then lettered the tires and fitted a Shanzilla body (that I re-stickered in 2000 and loaned to another car.......now I have to undo all that LOL) anyway- also, worked on my R&D Terminator 2.25 with a CW Open Comp Camaro (painted sometime BITD by the painter of the box art Dominator)

Of what? More oval stuff? Dominator that I have 99% of the parts to do a replica of a buddies Nats winning car from 91' if I could find a damn 1.5mm tip that won't break to tear the car down!!!!! so I'm stalled-my Customworks Enforcer 10, all parts ready to build! and I have an early Superior SRP-1 to restoreRC10resto wrote:Nice Reggie,

Nice car Reggie, that one really brings me back.
I raced dirt oval in late 80's to about 92 in southern ny.
I never saw any terminators, not until I got back into Rc 20 years later.
It was the custom works cars that put the hurt on the rc10 scene.
Our rc10's were a lot like reggie's, but we ran foams. A lot of the beginner
Cars ran buggy fronts and 2.0 proline waffles. We also had quite a few w/ jg and
Mcallister lowering kits. It was fun building those cars, trying out all kinds of cool parts.
Last year I got the same idea as reg and built a very similar car, still no body on it
But I got one of kipps to paint and install. Mines got .56's up front and .71's out back.
I still haven't gotten my but to the local d/o track since I got bitten by the
Retro d/o bug.

Re: RC10 Graphite Team car Oval style 91'
Very nice cars...well done! Back in the 80's, the only oval specific cars we ever saw were Big Boy Toys and Ascot sprint conversions. A lot of people either ran stock chassis or graphite RC10s or Yokomo C4s in 4WD.
