Re: Vintage AE & I Got 870c Runners!
Sorry Rod, I got caught up with my 10T, 10L and old/new RC10
I'm bringing the 870c stuff with me tomorrow and will pick up the RC10s for the 25yrs of rc10 project too if I can. If I don't pick up the RC10s then I can still work on the 870 buggies

Re: Vintage AE & I Got 870c Runners!
I got to work on the shocks tonight
I laid out of all the clean parts with one group showing how the manual shows how they go together. Amongst the parts I found 3 different pistons, no holed piston, 2 holed and 3 holed. I tried using the no holed piston and it didn't move very easy or at all inside the shock body, but the 2 holed piston worked nicely. I heard that these shocks were hard to bring back to life after over 10yrs of abuse, but I didn't seem to have any issues with the right piston. Maybe I'm doing something wrong with the non holed piston I would use a stiffer spring than the stock one though.
If it wasn't for the lack of inner springs, we would have shocks for three 870Cs, but as of right now, we just have one set.

Re: Vintage AE & I Got 870c Runners!
Im not sure if you are aware but the 870c and YZ10 had slightly different shocks. The 870c version confuses the hell out of me with those internal coils....what tha?
The YZ10 version were more inline with todays type shocks when it comes to the internals.

Re: Vintage AE & I Got 870c Runners!
I noticed that these shocks are ass backwards
They wont work very well without those internal springs though. I wonder where they all went to? Not like someone would think that it would be a good idea to throw them out. All I have is one extra for a total of 5.
May have to use Associated shocks if we cant find 3 more.

Re: Vintage AE & I Got 870c Runners!
some of the shocks didn't have the springs as far as I can tell. There was some kind of extra addendum to rebuild the shocks. The manual scan for the 870c floating around has that page stuck over top of the original page.
