Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
Made a little progress on the front end because my shock towers arrived yesterday...

Nice looking shock tower. I like the bent nose braces that come with that chassis kit. Do you know if the can be had separate?

Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
You'd have to ask, not sure. I'd post on the SSC10 FB group. I'd hope he'd have a few spares in the shop or maybe he could even fabricate a few.
Although not sure how they'd line up if not used with the SSC10 chassis. I know it's easy to find the tube stock and you'd just have to get a bender to bend your own.

Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
You'd want tube, not bar. I'd hate to try to drill a centered hole on the end of a bar that small. lol. I can lookup the hobby part I ordered to try it out with ... if I can find the receipt in my email.

Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
if you have a lathe, it's not a problem at all.
look for k&s tubing 83060, it's 3/16" tubing with an ID that is tappable to a #4 screw. I use it for wing tubes, nose brace tubes, etc. same stuff associated basically used.

YUP! That sound like exactly what I got. Totally jealous of your lathe... If I can ever build a garage to get my big toy out of the undersized under-house garage, I'll finally be able to build a real workshop for real tools.

Thanks for the scoop on the tubing. I'm going to have to get some. I needed some RC10 wing tubes and was disgruntled at the asking price for a pair of Associated ones on eBay.

Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
I also have a small stash of stock AE nose and wing tubes ... I strip and anodize them various colors. Tons of bent nose tubes I use for practice anodizing. Pretty easy for me to do.
Plus I have the tube stock I've cut to make NEW wing tubes. Haven't made new nose tubes cause it's tough to drill that hole across the round side straight w/ a hand drill. lol.

Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
Made some good progress...
Some misc build notes...
Some misc build notes...
- RPM Rear Arms require longer inner hinge pins, and I wanted to use the Lunsford titanium ones I had so I kept stock Rear Arms
- RPM Front Arms use ball pivots, not the pivot mounts used by the worlds, so we're using stock front arms
[*}Also why I didn't use the RPM delrin pivots because I couln't. Kinda confusing with the RPM stuff but I'll use them on another car - Ordered white wheels so I can dye them black... Proline Electrons on the stock Yellow wheels will do for now.
- Decided to NOT anodize the aluminum and titanium purple to keep a "Black and Shiny" theme.

That looks very nice. I don't see many holes for different battery cup positions... what all can you do?

Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
pretty much setup for a full-size front to back or a shorty side-to-side as the two options.
I was going to look at making something up for myself that was a little more adjustable. Right now I just want to get it ready for the track!

Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
So I got the White World's car wheels in... Took to the dye again and came out nice and black.
They were a little too shiny for my liking and showed the imperfections. I took some 1500 grit sand paper and scuffed them up for a matte finish. Mounted them up and I'm liking the look so far.
Next I need to figure out the body... I got a basic painted body in my old colors test mounted. I like the bright colors to contrast. First thought I need to get the electronics in see how that steering server&arm work.--

Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
Looks good with the "matte" black wheels, I'll look to do the same on my C2 build.
What ESC are you using?
If your sticking to the black look, get some TQ Wire 13 gauge for the ESC https://tqwire.com/shop/rc-products/tq-13-gauge-wire-black/#tab-description
To go all out, do the same black action for your servo wire https://tqwire.com/shop/rc-products/triple-black-22-gauge-soft-pvc-servo-extension-futaba-connector/ You can cut it to the exact length you want. Note: it's not a job (opening the servo case and doing the soldering)is not for the faint at heart. The first one I did was not easy getting the wires in the pc board.
I've used TQ Wire for a very long time, extremely flexible, best quality in my opinion. You can get it from most of the normal hobby places. I've always bought direct (Paypal is accepted) and gotten my order faster than if I bought from say, amain.

Re: Mat's World's ReRe - Build #2 - RaceReady
I have a Xerun 17.5 combo to use. Yeah, I'd have to do something if I wanted to "black" the wires. I may use some black wire-wrap instead for now.
When I wire some of my stuff, I have some heavy duty 12g marine wire that I've liked so far. I also found some high quality wire yesterday from back in my battery building days. So I have options.
Right now I want to get track ready... And figure out what I'm going to do for the body.
