Thanks Matt! This car certainly has quite a few challenges to work out. Seems like every part needs some rework and refinishing. I am just glad I am past the super glue removal process. With acetone, the glue turns to a gooey gel and immediately starts to re-harden. A real mess. The rear axle tube is my next area to consider. Should I fix it or make my own bearing retainer's and ditch the tube? I've seen later Hyper cars with no tube.

The removed front axle prior to cleanup. I lightly resurfaced it to clean up old dents and dings. Also checked for trueness and it passed. The previous owner might of smacked a wall as one king pin was slightly bent. I managed to tap it straight once again.

After pics of upright mounts and axle after cleanup. The one with the wood stuck in it is the one I had to drill the screw out. While those were out, I decided to run a tap all the way through the mounting holes. Not sure why they only tapped the threads halfway at the factory. I also used peroxide on the steering parts. Much newer looking now.

Any expert out there can identify this shock assembly? It comes standard with the H10 and is used as the center main shock. Since these Hyper parts are scarce, I may need to substitute with an equivalent manufacturer. Maybe a used one would work as I would likely rebuild it anyway.

Today I thought I would make my own bearing ride height inserts. The originals were designed to allow use of the axle tube and not the bearings themselves. Since my tube was bent on one end and had a hole ground through it, I decided to eliminate the tube altogether and just use a couple of handmade inserts. I used a step drill on some spare abs sheet and drilled a few holes to check proper depth so the bearings would sit flush. The step drill made these easier to make. Finally, I shaped the parts with a belt sander and small file to make them fit into the bulkheads. Turned out pretty decent. The car must have hit something pretty hard bitd judging by how tweaked the rear pod was. Full speed curb check or manhole cover encounter?

I have those little Delta shocks on the sprint car and the Dominator. The shock body, plastic cap and spring collar in your photo appear to be identical to what I have.
Those shocks have internal volume compensation and that's what the small spring is for.
Excellent fabrication work, those inserts look factory-made. Well done!

Thanks! I will likely make a few more so I can fine tune the ride height.

Today while shopping, I went by the shoe section and had an idea. Since shoe polish hides scuffs and scratches on footware, why not try it on a vintage Hyperdrive pan car chassis? I applied several coats and allowed it to dry. Then I buffed it off and this was the result. The scratches have been toned down a bit and they blend in with the surrounding surface. At least it looks a bit more presentable until I cut my own carbon chassis for this car and two other H10's.

I thought about auto polish or mag polish. Problem is they are generally light or white colored paste. Once dry, the scratches would actually be more noticeable since they would be filled with it. I guess they make black auto wax for black cars and that would be worth a try as well. Black shoe polish seems to work quite well and the more coats applied, the deeper the shine. Plus, it smells great!!!

That chassis plate looks new!
Using boot polish was a brilliant idea.
I'm gonna try that with my old worn B2 chassis.

It's not bad but probably would worked better if I'd wet-sanded before applying the polish.
The polish filled the finer scratches but most scratches are deep.
I'm planning to rebuild this car one day for display so I'll sand it then.
