I feel fortunate that I got to work with the Losi's for so many years. It was fun hanging with Jr. especially when he would move offices or clean his office. I never saw an aluminum proto of the JRX2. Jr. over the years showed me quite a bit of cool stuff but I don't even recall seeing an aluminum car other than his RC10 proto. The closest thing would be the Magnesium chassis xx-4 protos. I wish I had hung onto one of those chassis'

Hi Richard. Thanks for Your information. Do You have any interesting stories about (vintage) Team Losi prototypes, products or ideas that was tried but didn't work or didn't went to production? I remember that You did write once to here (=rc10talk.com) something about transparent tyres. Why were these made?

HI Jirka,
Sorry it took so long, but I finally got a picture (poor) of the transparent tire. I think the clear tire was just to see if they could run the mateial. I also have "tranparent" plastic outdrives but they were shot to test the molds without causing any damage.
So... how many Associated parts can you find on these prototypes? There are even some aftermarket parts for the RC10 on the small picture (looks like a rear MIP shock tower for the RC10).
Here are photos that a buddy of mine took of the JRX2 prototype that Gil Losi Jr was racing at an event in Arizona. I'll have to get more information on the specific event to post later. I will assume that it must have occured in 1987.
I had these original bodies painted by Mr. Gary Kyes who also painted many of the early box art bodies including the original JRx2 and JRxPRO. I'll post pictures as soon as I find the time to trim them, mount them up, and apply the original decals....

The shocks are Kyosho 'reds' either CB88's or CB89's (I cannot remember which is the long one) that does not refer to a year but the Kyosho code for the length and type of the shock.
After information and if possible loads more pictures of the PB ACE Prototype, the mid motored version that was trialed but never made it into production. Very interested in this car . I’ve seen one mag article on the prototype if I can’t find a car...

I was just thumbing through the Euro magazine scans on Retromodelisme.com and noticed this pic of an early prototype 834B in the Dec '82 issue of Auto RCM.
