Re: making alloy rims - 2.2" F/R 3-piece jelly bean
Oh, I see.
Now most of the 2.0 wheels had quite an offset in the rear while the front is rather neutral. If he copies the offsets from the original rc10 wheels it will look good on most cars of the same generation.
Ofcourse a wider front than rear would look awfull, but the opposite is not so exceptional even with stock wheels.
I did say one-design-fits all and you're right, that's not correct.
Still, he could sell to a somewhat larger group using those adapters

Re: making alloy rims 2.2" F/R 3-piece jelly bean
I just got some pics from pargu2000. I sent my RC10 with bunch of wheels and old/modern tires to make these wheels.
thanks for sharing your ideas
everything looks fine to me. but, I'm afraid that the screw holes look metric. I mailed him to check this out.
I'll post at the B/S/T area after I get the real one. it's just a quick view
and, he didn't make the plstic rings for front. and, will not. you need sotck 2.1" rings for front. and, work fine with 2.1/2.2 tires

Agreed, nicely done. I see a run of those at next years Vintage Nationals. Good call on the large sized tires.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.

go the rims a few hours ago.
the 3mm black coated stainless screws look fine. but it's much heavier than expected.
I put Proline dirt hawg tires on rear. and had a play between them. a single layer of 3M tape worked fine for covering the gap.

that is the one problem I find with his wheels that he makes I don't know what he is leaving for a wall thickness but he needs to thin them down some on his other wheels I see that he removed some of the ribs on his optima wheels anyway he could probably get away with a .032 wall thickness to remove some of the weight59burst wrote:go the rims a few hours ago.

well they look great, maybe he needs to do a little fine tuning on the weight issue which he should be able to machine those walls thinner the center of the wheels look pretty thick I can understand the threaded side needing the extra thick wall but not the outer side,I wounder if all of the wall thickness on those wheels are as heavy as the center.

the outsides and ribs are fine. only the center areas gain the weight. I'll update later

These are looking great!
Something else you guys might want to consider is a one-piece version of these in some form of plastic with 2.2" on front and back. I'd think these would be popular with vintage racers for actual track use. You could have a durable lightweight wheel - with the proper offsets - yet still have that vintage feel. Perhaps the one-piece design and less expensive material would bring the cost down as well. Just a thought…

As it is all handwork I think the material is a smaller part of the end-price
