I just picked up 2 MIP diff's and in both cases they were almost impossible to turn and after cleaning and replacing the balls they were not much better. The problem is that they were not taken care of properly, the faces of the diff have a groove ground into them and I'm not sure it can be restored enough to ever have a smooth movement. The best route is to replace part sp-16 and sp-17 but they are almost impossible too find, rarely come up on eBay. I got the 2 diff's for $25 so I guess you get what you pay for.

I found after closer examination that it was not SP-16 and 17 that needs to be replaced in both but the B-6 where the small ball bearings sit and the B-7 thrust washer. I suspect they got so hot they just galled up the metal so bad they were close to welding themselves solid. That is why I would be leery of running a brushless lipo setup with the SP-1 trans.
