MIP SP1 Ball Raced Diff (BR-100)
MIP SP1 Ball Raced Diff (BR-100)
I recently picked up a MIP SP1 tranny with a special Ball Raced Diff (BR-100).
After searching everywhere, I can't seem to locate a manual for the Ball Raced Diff. I have the parts diagram, but no instructions - in particular I am trying to find what oil is recommended. The document I have says that it uses oil vs grease for the diff.
If anyone has any detailed information on this diff, please let me know. I may also need some parts - please let me know if you have anything specific for this diff. In particular, I may need BR-5 and/or BR-6 parts.
Thanks as always for your help!

A few drops of light oil on the internal gears (some will tell you no oil), clear silicone diff grease in the diff, and black grease on the thrust assembly. They tell you not to use Associated but that can be ignored.

Agree on the standard lubrication for ball diffs - silicone grease on diff and molybdenum grease for the thrust bearing. I've seen three versions of the idler gear - steel, brass and delrin. In my opinion the brass and delrin may run dry (of course you could also lubricate these trains (eg ceramic grease)). In a steel to steel gear connection it might be advisable with some sparse lubrication (eg a PTFE (Teflon) grease). One just have to try to avoid lubricant contamination from gear train to ball diff... So sparse and high viscosity.
