Re: Pop star Michael Jackson has died
Weird day here in LA. It's warm, not hot, and windy. Farrah, Michael...I'm going to have to drink myself into a drunken stupor.
Of course, that's after I finish my iced tea by the pool and get some pizza with the kids.

Don’t forget Ed McMahon. The comes in threes thing I guess.
Always figured Ed had the best job of all… Sit around, have a drink, and chuckle at Johnny’s jokes. Not a bad gig at all.

Ah yes, young Grasshopper. That was a cool and unique show.
And being a Vintage site, remember there is not much new under the sun. I chuckle at the notion that American Idol is some kind of creative new concept, Ed’s got that covered too.
Or was it Chuck Barris with the Gong Show?

Ed had Star Search long before Idol. If you want to get really technical, then you go to the tonight show. They were alway showcasing some new talent.

We may not be finished, Walter Cronkite isn't do too well either. this could be 6!
I don't think anyone can ever top him. I think this will be bigger than the Pope. Probably rivals that of Princess Di.
The moonwalk will never be the same again.

Re: Pop star Michael Jackson has died
I'd say it's the biggest celebrity death in my lifetime, after Elvis. Probably tied with Di. I was a huge fan as a kid, and have never grown tired of the 70's-80's material, especially everything that came off of Thriller. Loved that guy, his was a sad story that's for sure.
To this day one of the coolest things I have ever seen:
“Oh, God! That boy moves in a very exceptional way. That’s the greatest dancer of the century”. - Fred Astaire
“The only male singer who I’ve seen besides myself and who’s better than me – that is Michael Jackson.” – Frank Sinatra

It truley is a sad time for pop music. I liked his music and thought he was a great preformer, singer and song writter. I am going to keep it positive. I myself was a huge fan in the 80's. Sad sad day.
I also want to say something about Farrah Fawcett who also died that day and is playing second fiddle to MJ. She fought a long battle of cancer. Im sure most of you guys had wild fantasies about her growing up so dont forget her and the impact she made on TV.

Re: Pop star Michael Jackson has died
Probably showing my age as much as anything, but for me it’s the Jackson 5 era that comes to mind.
But that also illustrates possibly the most impressive thing about Michael’s career, a huge child star, but most seem to remember him for his adult work. Quite an achievement.

We lost 5 poeple already so there will be someone else soon.
A miami dolphins football was murdered last week, then ed mcmahon, Farah, and michael.
I will always keep my thriller album just to teach my daughter about the king

His physical time on earth may have past but his music and dance still inspire people.

Billy Mays died today too.
I can't remember a time when so many "stars" passed in such a short time.

Billy Mays was a star? Pulleeezzeee!!
While the significance of his life cannot be taken lightly, let's not confuse his infomercials and ability to sell the item de jour, with any intrinsic artistic ability or positive social significance. He was a huckster, just as Ron of RonCo and the ShamWow guy and will be forgotten just as easily.
