Michael Schumacher
Just heard Michael Schumacher is in critical condition after a skiing accident
Last report I read says its unclear if he is still in a coma

Re: Michael Schumacher
Yes and he had to have emergency brain surgery too. Very sad, I hope he pulls through.

Re: Michael Schumacher
Saw this last night, hope he comes though. It's amazing all the things he has done in a car and it's a ski accident that almost kills him.

Re: Michael Schumacher
It sure isn't sounding very promising
Doctors treating Michael Schumacher said on Monday they were fighting "hour by hour" to save the former Formula One driver's life after he cracked his head on a rock during an off-piste skiing accident in the French Alps.
Dr Jean-Francois Payen, the chief anaesthesiologist at the Grenoble hospital treating Schumacher, said the next 48 hours would be crucial. A brain scan revealed internal bleeding and multiple lesions. "He is in a critical condition … His condition is deemed very serious," Payen told a news conference. "For the moment, we cannot predict the future for Michael Schumacher."

Re: Michael Schumacher
From what I have read his coma was induced by doctors. Not sure as to why as the reports didn't specify. Anyways I hope for a speedy recovery. He's a legend

Re: Michael Schumacher
From what I heard he was "conscious" in the beginning but not coherent. True not sure if the coma was medically induced or if he slipped in and they are keeping him there. It's great that things are looking better but you just have to wonder to what extent he will recover
Meribel resort officials said Schumacher was conscious when first responders arrived, although agitated and in shock.
After the fall, Payen said Monday, Schumacher was not in a “normal state of consciousness.” He did not respond to questions, and his limbs appeared to move involuntarily, the doctor said.

Re: Michael Schumacher
Medically induced comas are generally the best way to minimize brain swelling with severe TBI.From what I have read his coma was induced by doctors. Not sure as to why as the reports didn't specify.

Top Gear's Richard Hammond recovered nearly fully after his severe injuries in a crash. You wouldn't even know anything had happened. Let's hope the same for schumacher.gomachv wrote: you just have to wonder to what extent he will recover
