Aluminum Stealth trans

I came across this a while ago and figured I'd post it.

I found this company (American Custom Engineering) who appears to make Sprint car parts that sells one. It looks like an aluminum version of the RPM 2.65. Does anybody know anything more about this? It says its a mid motor mount design but I wonder if it accepts the regular motor plate. It might be just for Sprint cars and not a direct replacement for the Stealth but it sure looks it.

to make it work in a standard rear mounted configuration, all you probably have to do is drill a hole in the right case half so the topshaft can come out that side.

i don't know if a 2.25 motor plate would bolt up or not, though.

the holes appear to all be in the correct place for the stock bracket. nice find!

Do you think its a direct fit for stock dogbones or would you need aftermarket?

Seeing the prices that complete Stealths are fetching lately I don't think the price is too bad. It could stand to be a little less though. I doubt they sell too many of them which can contribute to it.

It looks like theres more material between the screw holes and the edge of the case compared to the RPM one. That might mean that the case is slightly larger.

I think i'll email them since I have a number of questions about it.

the more material is due to the lack of having a recess area for the screw heads to go down into by the looks of it to me.

I posted about the extra material, went to take a shower and while in there it popped into my head that the holes weren't countersunk. I came to post about it and you beat me to it.

now the real question that needs to be asked is how do you mount it to the chassis. if you look at the picture the bottom mounting holes are not drilled. hopefully the pic is just a prototype or something and the one they sell has the bottom mounting holes predrilled. i could tap them myself just wouldn't want to drill them.
