NIP Schumacher CAT XLS
All
I have been meaning to post some pics of my NIP CAT XLS build for a while now. So here we are. The build started with being one which was about 95% nip with the remaining parts being good condition second hand. However, I have since managed to get hold of enough nip parts to make the car completely new. Everything is nip original Schumacher XLS including the shell/wing/undertray/belt cover (I was fortunate enough to buy a number of the last few of these which Schumacher recently had listed on their website), shocks and the chrome wheels.
As you would expect, I am really pleased with this car. When I was first into RC as a kid (bashing my Tamiya Fox about), this was the car that everyone aspired to have when it came to racing. I seem to remember the likes of Jamie Booth racing one of these very successfully back in those days.
I have recently acquired an original Schumacher CAT XLS manual and parts list and am now on the look out for a good condition CAT XLS box to complete the total package.
I hope you enjoy these pics.....:

Nicely done! I always loved the chrome wheels.
Someone really should repro a LWB body, soon.

Thanks Alan. Make sure you post pics of yours once you've finished it!Synchrocnc wrote:Well done Charles, absolutely beautiful. I must get mine finished soon.
Thanks, Jay. I take that you'll be producing some of your top quality repros for the XL/XLS soon then......?mrlexan wrote:Nicely done! I always loved the chrome wheels.

Beautiful build! I think the XLS is probably one of the top 3 best looking RC shells ever. Will you paint it? I'm going to convert one of my Procats to XLS but probably wont't get round to it until next summer!

Re: NIP Schumacher CAT XLS
Thanks, Luke. Fortunately, I have enough spare XL/XLS shells that I will paint a couple of them. I'm definitely going to have one in the boxart colours but will also try to be a bit more original and go for something different. I really like the paintwork designs that Bormac produces on his Schumacher cars but they are unique to Bormac and I don't wish to plagiarise those so I will need to do something different (art was never my strongest subject!)....kaszal wrote:Beautiful build! Re: NIP Schumacher CAT XLS
Thanks, Jeroen! Definitely don't have anywhere near as many CATs as you! (But I'm working on it - hoping to build an XL shortly (with period hop-ups) and complete my CF SWB. I'll post pics of these when I have the chance....)jeroen206 wrote:Great looking CAT XLS Charles !!

Charles,
Absolutely gorgeous build. Can't wait to see some pics with a painted shell. Definitely a cool looking buggy.
