TRX-1 pedigree question - Detroit?

Post by Lonestar »

Hi guys

I am writing an article for my trx-1 rebuild, with some history about the car. My memory is betraying me. I have somewhere in my mind that the TRX-1 made the A at the Worlds in Detroit in 1991, in the hands of Rick Velhow. Can someone confirm this, the name/spelling of the hero who did this  and possibly provide some pics?

thanks for the help :)

TRX-1 made A-final in 1991 worlds but in hands of Scott Montgomery. Rick was an AE-driver there.

On middle of page 2, there are couple on action pictures of A-finals and Scott's TRX-1 #4 is there with AE's and Losi's.

Ha - I knew about Scott and the Nats, I got him mixed up with an AE driver for Detroit.

Thanks for the info!

Hey I never said I was as knowledgeable as you  So, sir, tell us - what is the original name of the TRX-1?

Paul

Edit - hold on, is it that "guessed" name that is the same as a future serpent onroad car?

Talon is the first name, followed by vector just before TRX-1 !

Yep, they ran into trademark problems with Talon, and Vector. I guess Eagle/Mitsubishi wanted some money for use of the name.

Wow I'm impressed by your knowledge gentlemen - Kenooze, can you drop me a quick PM (in french ;) ) with a few lines about the name and history and the why's, and I'll make sure you get credit in the article that'll be released on Georges' site? :)

thanks to both,

Paul

Hi Paul,

No probs, I will try !
But if you take a look in the scan forum, I published few things about the 1991 Worlds, including the official programm.
In that one, you will be able to find a page of publicity with the "vector" annoucement .
That's collector !

I will get it scanned in, tells the history, etc. of perhaps Traxxas's only true race car. Perhaps why I have a new one on the shelf

What you really need for the full history of the TRX-1 is the December 91 and the February 92 issue, the 91 being the worlds, the 92 being the full test review with historical insite.

Luckily I have both! I will try to get them both scanned into the archive seperately.

A little teaser......
